Rain?!!

I've just got in for a break and I'm soaked!

So much for 'waterproof' bike gear..

...mind, they are a couple of years and several thousand miles old!

I'm hoping my better half is going to order a curry for tonight, I've a bottle of Asahi in the fridge and need something spicey to drink it with..

..that's my excuse anyway.
Cheers, HG

I got soaked pushing my trolley full of food from supermarket to car. The downpour lasted until after I had returned the empty trolley and got in the car - then the sun came out .

We've just had a homemade veggie curry. I quite liked it.

Torrential rain and very strong winds whilst I was trying to move my boat tthis morning. Then went to work and it was sunny and dry, whilst I was sitting in the office

The ' hoover ' is on weed removal detail - he's done really really well so far .

After this we are heading for Tesco and a little alcohol education - the variety of 'what to avoid'

Then I'll put a new card in the P70 for him [ he has an iTouch with a camera ] and we'll go and get a look at the Riverside Museum [ hopefully everyone else will be going to look at the Tall Ships ]

Well, last nights curry went well with the beer.

Looks like it's a trip into Harrogate to do some shopping.

Think I'll take the K110 and Da 40, just in case!

I came home with a brand new shiny(well, matt black actually) Sigma 10-20!

Now all I have to do is learn how to use it..

well - we got to the much publicised Riverside Museum - still to look at the pics

It's a flipping disaster

The floor plans show a velodrome for the bikes - but what they don't say is that said Velodrome is suspended from the roof and waaaaaaay above your head and the bikes are upside down , or at silly angles as if they were being ridden round the track

Not only that, there's no way to identify these bikes [ there's a Pedersen there as well as 3 Moultons ] but if you didn't know what they are you wouldn't know as there's no ID at ground level.

I did want a pic of the Hoover's Mother's and Aunt's bike [ they both learned on it ] and the label saying given by xxxxxxx

BAH - still beer has now been consumed

Don't get me started on badly thought out museums...

I like the old approach where you have a large shed full of old stuff with nametags attached, and hopefully some boiler-suited types out the back overhauling the exhibits and getting them working again. None of this "interpretive and inclusive" nonsense, let the engineers run the place rather than the sociology graduates!

Went into the restored Turkish Baths in Leamington Pump Room recently (it's a few yards from the office). Nice job, but the beautiful paintwork and tiles they had lovingly restored were hidden behind numerous interpretation boards, incongruous handrails etc. Rubbish.

I would rather appreciate the space as it was. If I want to know about it I can pick up a leaflet...

I just plugged my e-book in to the computer to download some new books. Went to type in the url of a book site and all I got was a line of grave accents.

Funny I thought.

Killed Firefox, and tried again, same thing.

Couldn't access my files properly either.
I was very puzzled.

Then I realised the e-book was resting on the `/~ key.
Doh!

Talking of e-books it is frustrating that publishers limit where you can download a book. I can't download any books from UK sites for instance. I wanted to get Keith Richards autobiography. I can have it in German, but not in English, not even from a US site, and I haven't even found it in Dutch yet.
I could get an illegal copy of it, but I really don't want to do that.

What e-book do you have?
