Heading way up north for a few days. About as far north as you can get without falling into the sea.

Came to a sticky end though.
I then discovered there are dozens of them, The younger ones are paler and they take quite a bit of spotting. So I think its going to be a chemical wash of some sort
At least we've eaten the gooseberries in a crumble with lots of custard. mmmmmm. Going out now to pick the black currents.

Yup, this is the second batch (3lb 12oz) from a single bush (total so far >6lb. Probably another 2-3 lbs left yet to ripen. Might have been a bit better if they hadn't got to the "pick one dislodge two" stage, still it keeps the blackbirds happy.
It's a sprawling monster of a bush which my neighbour keeps telling me that I should prune - to get a better yield?.

Sat and watched a Pink Panther film last night.
In the scene where Sellers enters a bedroom disguised as a janitor with a melting wax nose he continually calls out "begaze - begaze"
I think this could be a derivative of Begiessen - to pour water on, but suspect it could be either an "in-joke" or slang of some sort
I'm puzzled, can anyone translate please
Regards

A long time since I watched Sellers Panther movies but as he was doing a tremendous job of messing up the French language one can only assume that "begaze" was something French, unless the scene was in a German hotel

It was a Swiss hotel (pension) so could be colloquial german.
