Just remembered Snow Grouse, served from the freezer and refreshing on a hot day.

Yes, really...

Think I'll try that sometime.
I believe you can even get bottled water from some Whisky makers that way you don't contaminate the taste.
Ice is a real no go.

Correct David, Scotch should never be drunk neat, a bit more than a "drop" of mineral water is the way to go.

As for your run of the mill stuff then I have no problem mixing it with Green Ginger, Ginger Ale or Lemonade or whatever, lets face it if your wife opened a can of Skol to make a shandy you wouldn't bat an eyelid, just let her try it with a bottle of your best and you'd be in the divorce courts

At Oban distillery they suggested a drop of water in the free sample for the non whisky drinkers. My husband drank his neat of course. I tried it with water, since I don't like neat whisky, and still didn't like it. So he drank that too.
I had to drive home that day .

He likes Irish Whiskey as well as whisky, but doesn't like Bourbon and similar. Far too coarse he says. I used to like Southern Comfort but can't stand it now.

I'm more of a vodka girl. Preferably Polish, and I used to drink it neat. I have lost the habit now though, and in fact rarely drink spirits any more.

Leave the water in a container in the fridge overnight, the chlorine will leave it. Or use kettle water. Water filters are a ma$$ive wa$te of money!

I've just got some fish to re-stock the pond after the awful winter killed off most of mine.

I can`t afford Malt Whiskey OR Good Cognac - so I gravitate toward the quirky flavours of the Solera system - Fundador,Soberano etc and the delights of Calvados,Armagnac,Grappa ( don`t laugh - some are very expensive ! )Marc de Bourgogne, and the delightful Rye and Bourbon whiskeys from our friends across the pond.

That`s when I`m not drinking red wine or English beers !!

Just received my new Manfrotto 190XPROB tripod and 486RC2 ball head. Brilliant piece of equipment. $280AUD from HKBNS, on ebay. Earlier today though, I chopped a heap of wood for my massive wood shed, more of a hangar, really. Hurt the shoulder a bit, mind you, so I had to knock back a dozen Leffe and grollsch beers. I tell you, that stuff's so nice you could have it for dessert, after a nice Barbecue. Speaking of which, I hate it when the mobile phone rings when I'm cooking the barbie (oh, and FYI, our barbie season runs all year), or when mowing the lawn, because there's nothing better than a nice cold beer by the wood shed, after mowing. Or a whisky......
