Another pointless thread

Meanwhile my ancient 2nd hand Slik 500G has yet to show any sign of shedding parts, and cost me about £8 including postage!

The legs aren't quite straight and they do wobble around a bit until you get it set up, but it holds a camera steady and weighs next to nothing. What more can you ask for the money?

Very classy tripods - definately Billingham companions! Good tripod weight to load ratio on many of the tripods shown - also some fancy prices!

Is this still pointless?

Well my Ambico came from Pink - and so far with me it's not had a lot of use and probably never will . It seems perfectly OK

Don't think James had any problems either .

Anyone can be lucky / unlucky with anything - even a bottle of beer

LBA - Nothing: I have a loft full of tripods...
Benbo - Manfrotto - Cullman and an assortment of unbranded ones. Pan and tilt heads, wind up centre columns etc.
All gathering dust with the advent of the trusty Gitzo...

Yes.

I was just wondering if anybody drinks their whisky with ice, or water?

Sometimes I'll adulterate a good scotch, but wondered what the protocol was.

slurp, that's straight laphroaig that is, and it's only ten years old!

They are a bit cheaper here link
They surely look good and the construction look simple, that's what I like about them.
If something is wrong I can bring it to a wood worker or something like that and get it fixed those fancy carbon ones are nice but when they break there is no way to fix them.

Good Grief .

It's obviously like buying bags - it's hard finding the one that really really suits you and your needs [ and I sense Photomonk leaning back in his chair chuckling like mad saying " I told you so " ]

I believe you need to have one drop of mineral water in it to release all the flavours.

Not sure what the Scots think about that

HG - my husband preferred his whisky straight - and that's how I was introduced to it .

The only one I haven't really enjoyed was Bowmore - that one I did add some water to .

Why mineral water for goodness sake - here, where it's made , we have wonderful soft water - that's the stuff they actually use in the manufacture .

Mineral water eh?

Think I'll try that sometime.

By the way is this the longest thread on the forum or are there longer ones I've missed?

My MX needs an outing.

I agree about the woodwork repairs. However, Carbon fibre takes a bit of breaking I should think. Especially the six layers as used in the production of the top end Gitzo.

Go and buy a Gitzo - you know you want to...

Must admit I often add some dry ginger ale and a lump of ice - Refreshing yes - Scots approval, probably a resounding no...

I believe you can even get bottled water from some Whisky makers that way you don't contaminate the taste.
Ice is a real no go.

here is a read about it link
