ScrewFix are selling overshoes with spikes fitted to them, threw away the flyer so no other details, but under £20.00 if I remember correctly.

Edit:- Just checked and they are out of stock, must mean something :

They're great. Instant grip on slippy surfaces and can also be used for bridging holes or as ramps to get onto rocks. Could just do with a slightly longer pair on occasion as the ones I have are only 4ft or so.

I always have:

Jumper leads
Folding shovel
Warning triangle
Tow ropes
Head torch
Survival kit

and when it snows I'll be adding waffle boards and a proper shovel to the roof rack, along with a hilift jack on the back door!
Well, I have flares, a tent, a small snow-plough, a large barbecue, half a ton of charcoal, and a well-stocked St Bernard.

Beat that!.

Got glowsticks, tent, camping gear but the contents of my boot are geared more toward getting home than digging in to await rescue!

Er George, where are you?

With a list like that you should be in the Highlands but your supposed to be in the London area!

It can't get that bad there surely?

I see the Telegraph have a slip-on snow/ice overshoe and spikes on offer.

It`s sunny and chilly here - off to the dentist first then Harry Potter for an afternoon showing when the ankle biters are still in school.

Three new Cyrils this am - one brave enough to put a paw on my hand and take his first nut - aaah ! - costing a fortune this ................
