Another pointless thread

This thread is developing a point again.

Bad day today. Feeling very low, so a Chinese take-away tonight.

Tomorrow I must get a new battery for my car before winter arrives on Wednesday. Snow forecast .

If you want to try a rangefinder you could always try an Olympus XA.

They slip into the pocket and are a joy to use.

It's the Leica-a-like retro nature of the FED which appeals really. I was out with my SV today and the clip-on meter takes some getting used to - generally I switch it on, meter the scene, then switch off and put the settings into the camera before focusing and shooting. Hopefully this will work!

Hoping for snow here before long, car has twin batteries of which at least one is healthy (the other needs some batt-aid tablets I think).

my car sounded awful trying to start the other morning - whrhrhhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrrhrhrhrhrhrhrhhrhrhrhrhrhhrhrh instead of brrrtschoom as it should be. Yeah, OK, it was -5, but still. And this one's three years old, so it's done its duty (!!!).

got to get a charger for the DEFA system, I think, along with a timer and then we are seriously cooking with charcoal.

In other news, I'm beginning to get used to the 7D and now need a very good excuse to get a K5 before I find even more reasons to move to the dark side.

And finally... we've hit -10 Part of me expects -15 by morning.

The BBC keep talking about snow in the UK on Wednesday.

Other sites I've looked at seem to think not.

I don't mind a bit of cold but if it snows and I'm out 'till 9.00 in the evening working then it's gonna get interesting.

Just putting the potatoes on to go with the bacon joint I cooked on the stove earlier today, might have some mushy peas as well.

Not Pentax, but look up Yaktrax overshoes. They're like snow chains for your feet, fold into a pocket for when you reach the cleared areas (they're lethal on smooth surfaces as there's nothing for them to dig into and grip) and can be put back on in seconds. Yet to try mine on snow but I've got them ready!

Last year I ended up abandoning my car several times and trudging four miles to get into work, still managed to get some very snowy photos as a result. I already have in the boot:

Walking Boots
Sleeping bag
Water Proof trousers
Raincoat
Head torch
Soup
Stove
Shovel
old bit of carpet to stick under the wheels

I think that makes me a pessimist

I always have:

Jumper leads
Folding shovel
Warning triangle
Tow ropes
Head torch
Survival kit

and when it snows I'll be adding waffle boards and a proper shovel to the roof rack, along with a hilift jack on the back door!

Better to be a warm safe pessimist than a frozen stiff optimist IMHO

Complete white road. Should get some more tomorrow and it looks like this lot is staying. Fine by me

I have these which are similar.
They were real life savers last winter when the woods turned into an ice-rink.
