Even in a Range Rover you have to slow to 5mph!
(This could be a whole new forum topic)

Not that side of the city - thankfully.
The one I really like is a speed table outside a localish Primary School [ Holy Cross in Govanhill ] the surface of this table has been breaking up for over a year - I get quite a laugh as folk hurtle past me when I'm taking it gently , and then they hit it - their fillings are in danger .
These humps , speed tables etc just do NOT work and nor do the plethora of pinch points etc .

I'm at something of a loss as to how forcing people into the path of oncoming traffic can have any safety benefits (assuming that's what you mean by "pinch points")!

Those are indeed pinch points. They do, as you suggest, push traffic into confrontation and sometimes individual drivers get quite aggressive in asserting their right to go first. The result is sometimes a clashing of vehicles.

The only pinch point around here is in my wallet.Well I am Yorkshire born and bred!
I had to open mine recently and found an old £20 note.
You know, the one that was replaced earlier this year.
I had to go to the bank to get it replaced, it then got spent on petrol so I could attack the speed humps in our road.

I find a Discovery has an unusual calming effect. Suddenly everyone wants to let you go first and has a strange reticence about getting too close even though you haven't been remotely aggressive.

I know it well, my studio is around the corner in Calder St. Have you noticed that beautiful old disused cinema round there, the Govanhill Picture House?

Ken - I worked in Holyrood
IIRC the cinema was in Bankhall Street
I never understood just why they did such a crackbrained one way system in that area which ended up with the traffic crossing over as they got it - total madness
