Managed a tidy house and then went to Scotland for 10 days, hence the silence.

It's a shame such a lovely country it spoilt by midges...

It depends on where you go and when 🙂

The East coast is far less bitey than the West.

I can also confirm that January is midge free.

Your experience reminds me of an occasion we visited Glen Affric in August. The little blighters waited until we had got out of the car and were putting our walking boots on. Not being in a position to leg it for at least two or three minutes, we had to endure them. If I ever need to go on a weight loss course, I know where to start.

First vaccine sorted, now the long wait for the second (late August)

I was dreading the well reported fever but thankfully didn't feel much at all other than a bit of soreness around the jab spot in my left arm. In fact I was more than familiar with the feeling having overexerted my right arm in a session of stone skipping a few days before.

Your waiting for your 2nd jab in August. I'm hoping to get my 3rd (Booster) jab by September. I had my 1st on the 18th Dec. and my 2nd on the 8th Jan. Never felt a thing but had to wait with the 15min. egg timer. No problems.

This thread is getting a bit sparse without Gwyn. This morning I asked the family if there was anything they needed from Amazon as I was 2p short of free delivery - Mrs RobL says Liz Earle face cleanser. That’s fifteen quid! Says I. Oh don’t be such a mean git was the reply. No wonder Mr Bezos is the world’s richest.

Not quite as rich as he was before he and his wife split up. I believe it cost him a lot more than 15 quid.

On a totally different matter, new glasses for close-up and distance/driving have arrived. The world seems much more in focus now. And all done without a trip to Barnard Castle.

I need to get my eyes tested, everything was fuzzy when I was sat at the PC, turned out to be finger prints on the lenses!

Quick clean and all's clear again...

...and I qualify for free eye tests, the only thing that is free in 'england' to over 60s.

Two years ago after my eye test at a private optician I ended up with a really expensive pair of specs I have never been able to wear. Supposed to be for driving and I can read a number plate half a mile away but I cannot easily read the dashboard with them and uncomfortable to boot, so I went back to my old Specsavers and that is where I will go next time.

Lucky you Dave, When I hit 60 I checked what I could claim..

...free eye test...Prescriptions..

...and that's it because I don't get any state benifits!

In Scotland though it's a different matter...

And on a different matter, I have to admit being a Terry Pratchett fan and as such enjoy the SkyTV adaptations but now,

The Yanks have got hold of 'The Watch'...

...all I can say is it bears no resemblance to the book, the characters are unrecognizable and props more 'Steam Punk' than Discworld.

Terry would hate it.
