Craft stouts add a different, grapefruitless, approach.

You're drinking the wrong craft beer ! I find that as more and more 'craft' beer appears the more it tastes of grapefruit.

When that's all there is besides lager then...
I prefer, and can often find a good IPA, a proper beer not an APA which can be, and has so often has been, a let down.

As tier 2 areas are going into tier 3 at midnight tonight, I wish you all a Happy New Year as you'll be celebrating in the pubs tonight as you cannot tomorrow. The point of putting you into tier 3, 24hrs early is, itself, pointless.
Just made a dash to Toolstation to get an item I need to finish a domestic job as I thought they would be closed tomorrow as we are going into tier 4 at midnight. Pointless worrying about the job getting finished since they are open tomorrow
Sound! So no change whatsoever to my schedules or activities.
Specials on tomorrow at the German duo outlets so will be getting in a few essential New Years fluids.

A quick trip to a bed shop yesterday to order a bed before going into a tier in which non-essential shops are closed. Turns out there was no need to rush, we're going into Tier 3 so the shop will still be open. Delivery in 3 months, plenty of time to reach Tier 8 ('Stay in bed' order) and get back down again.
No celebrating in pubs for me, never have enjoyed such places on New Year's Eve and similar. But a dose of Glenlivet (Christmas present from Mrs L) tomorrow night seems justified.

Non essential shops have been closed for weeks now, and stay closed until at least january 16th, but it will probably be longer. The DIY places are offering click and collct for things like washers for leaky taps, but otherwise order online and it gets here when it gets here.
Tomorrow just the two of us as ever. Glass of cheap fizz maybe, and Jools set to record. No fireworks (except all the illegal ones there are about), and no "borrel" by the neighbours.
Suits me just fine.
Lockdown and compulsory facemasks has not made an iota of difference to the numbers here, which are still rocketing.

When told one set of requirements to follow, don't. Do something different.
"Pfizer warns there is NO proof its Covid jab works when doses are taken 12 weeks apart as UK regulator scraps 21-day rule in desperate attempt to get millions more vaccinated
Regulator now recommending jabs are given in two doses three months apart
Originally Pfizer and Oxford jabs intended to be injected in space of four weeks
Change in strategy is to cope with spiking Covid cases and hospitalisations"
Does the UK regulator know something Pfizer doesn't?
Too far from a shore.

Government advice does not say " go and get pissed tonight because you cant tomorrow". Or do you not have free will ?pschlute wrote:

No New Years resolutions from me. I've seldom made any.
I missed your previous reply Peter, apologies.
We live in a society that is very different to that which most of us grew up in.
I for one am sure that some people in Whitehall are very well aware of what will be going on in tier 2 areas tonight.
Why didn't they close pubs with immediate effect in tier 2 areas as of 6pm? We can assume what the results of close proximity social mixing will result in, so can those in Whitehall.
I follow the UK Gov guidelines.
