Just back from collecting a hedge hog I rescued a few months back. As it was a baby, found out on the road wandering about in broad daylight. I dropped it off at a refuge and was asked if I wanted to release it once it was old enough to survive. So it's been a full circle.
Too far from a shore.

Had a couple of those last week. Yesterday we had the hatches firmly battened down as Francis blew through. Managed to cut the grass today before the next deluge arrives tomorrow.
Almost "ditto" here - cut the lawn yesterday so I could put the cuttings out for tomorrows' green waste collection, and then it rained a couple of hours later.

I had a dream last night that my model railway layout was missing (didn't know I had one) and went to a curry house to find it. The folks there were very friendly but were more interested in using the swimming pool (at the curry house) then helping me find my trains.

I wandered off and found my bag (that I didn't know I had lost) behind a wall, but, alas, no trains.

I woke up with a headache and feeling a little anxious. It was quite a relief to see the low, scudding clouds being pushed along by a brisk breeze, with the likelihood that I was going to get soaked on the way to work.

Please don't try and analyse the dream: some things are better placed in the tin labelled 'Unknown Stuff'.
Nigel.

Getting older and grumpier. Taking longer to decide which lens to use today.

I won't analyse your dream Nigel - but I would advise keeping off the Cheese of an evening

Classic Covid dream
I've had some truly weird ones over the last few months.

You could always ask Rod Stewart if you can play with his trains .

Not too many "covid dreams" , BUT persistent "getting lost" ones that seem to start out "fine" until I "go somewhere" from which I can't "escape" - that's when I wake up, desperately needing a pee

At my GP's request I am recording blood pressure to see how effective my new prescription is; interestingly I have noticed a significant improvement when taking readings after malt whisky, do you think he would prescribe that on the NHS instead?

Improved blood pressure or a deterioration in your ability to take an accurate reading?

What a day!

After 3 weeks without a phone or internet service my 86 year old mother finally got it sorted.

Despite several phone calls and trying to get things resolved with 'PLUSNET' (they advertised a good deal) who cut off her landline and then just...

...did nothing!

A quick call to her previous supplier, they're sending an engineer to fit her services, and 45 mins on the phone to +net she's now sorted.

Plusnet were absolutely useless at customer service, everything is done on line but without a computer how do you do anything?!!!

They have 'admitted' it was their fault and refunded an already taken charge and caqncelled the contract.

Oh the joys of internet services.

I think it's beer o'clock!
Cheers, HG

A few years ago we found two infant 'hogs in distress in our village garden. They were trying to suckle but mum vigorously rejected them, being more interested in mating with a male 'hog that was pursuing her.

We took them in and as they seemed to have been weaned we were able to feed them on snails. They were too small to munch whole snails in shells, so we had to crush snails and cut them up with scissors to feed the hungry infants. Not very nice! We kept them in a small corral in the kitchen until the stink became unbearable. We moved "Little Ping" and "Big Pong" out to the garage and continued feeding them until they were big enough to release into the garden. They soon took themselves off somewhere and we never saw them again in spite of providing a wooden box for shelter.

I've had 2 encounters with hogs. First time it was dark in the garden and my wife and I heard this almighty grunting and snuffling from behind a hedge. We hadn't a clue as to what it was so I approached with a big stick and when I moved the branches there it was the most massive hog I ever did see. We just went indoors and left it.
The second time it was ( I think ) an almost fully grown hog but there had been no rain for a week or so and it was just sitting there. SO I dug the ground near by and found some worms which I put just in front of its nose. It started twitching and then started to eat the worms. It ate 5 or 6 big fat worms then sat for a while then got on its feet and waddled off never to be seen again.
CHEERS Vic.
