We have to clear the spare rooms at Christmas when the kids come home..
..our room suddenly fills up with stuff we didn't know we had!
Although half the stuff in his old bedroom is now over clogging his house up
Honesty's stuff went years ago.
It seems like a lot of work at the time, but it's worth it just to have a house full of laughter for a few day.

Cleared out most of the junk before we moved this time. Only a few (hundred) miles of odd cables and assorted other "might come in useful" stuff left and that is all either in the sheds or the mancave.
Acres of empty space in this house which I am trying not to fill up. When we finally decorated "my room" I was ruthless with stuff that had already accumulated. Still have the photos to sort but honestly most of those I will happily toss. If he wants to downsize further he has a lot of sorting to do. Two sheds and a mancave at the very least.
This house was supposed to filled with laughter at the end of the month but the Dutch government has put the kybosh on that by banning gatherings with more than 6 guests at home. Weather forecast not looking great so it would be an indoor gathering.
I suspect Christmas will be cancelled too.

I know exactly what you mean.

Fed up with being stuck at home we went for a drive up the coast. Lovely sunny day, but a force 7 SW wind to blow away the cobwebs. Took my camera out with me, but only with 18-135 on it for some snaps as we walked along the dike. Of course the flamingos were close to shore but still too far to get a decent shot with that lens. Not sure even with the Bigma and tripod I'd have got a shot in in that wind though. Ah well.
Oops sorry - didn't mean to talk "shop"
Off to think about food for next Saturday - we are meeting up on my son's boat, since that is allowed whereas it isn't allowed at home. No I don't get it either.

We met some friends from Bridlington on thursday, a halfway point was Castle Howard, North Yorkshire.
We sat between the cars and had a picnic in the sun, all allowed, and after a visit to the garden centre said our goodbyes and drove our seperate ways.
A good day, then Friday did a good impression of an incontinent dog!
It's now 8ish on a saturday that's forecast wet all day, and the suns shining!!
Defo too early for beer so strong coffee it is then before waking Mrs HG for breakfast. I know she'll be happier if the sun shines...

A good idea, and can cut down on heating bills. But do not turn off the central heating in those rooms entirely. Use thermostatic radiator valves on the lowest setting.Fill a couple of rooms with stuff you don't use, shut the doors and ignore them. Hey presto, a smaller house.
My mother shut off a room once for a couple of years (unknown to me) and then wondered why the walls had mould growing on them.

Finally got the dodgy bread maker changed this week...
...a slightly more expensive one..
...and got to try it out quickly(?) this morning.
The results look a heck of a lot better than what I returned and actually taste good too.
One happy bunny, I might have a beer to celebrate.

I've been trying out some bread mixes of my own. Basic white plus. A "LITTLE" cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, sesame seeds. Ground up in the coffee grinder. sultanas. dried mixed fruit. Mixed nuts. With just a smidge extra yeast to give it that little extra rise. It's like hot x buns in a loaf. Eat while warm with lots of "REAL BUTTER" Lovely.
CHEERS Vic.
P S. I'll take a pic next time I make one.

One tooth less in Seattle.
Sat nursing an ache after having a wisdom tooth pulled yesterday.
Popping codeine pills and chilling now I'm less wise

Bright flashes, big bangs and more rain than a lawn could possibly need! At last, a proper thunderstorm . About time we had one, the weather was getting boring. Didn't last long, though, the sun's out now.

Had a couple of those last week. Yesterday we had the hatches firmly battened down as Francis blew through. Managed to cut the grass today before the next deluge arrives tomorrow.

Worked perfectly when my mother could no longer manage stairs. My brother and I turned the ground floor into a ground floor flat (thankfully the bathroom was downstairs), furniture and everything else that wouldn't be needed was put upstairs. Mother couldn't get upstairs to see the mess so never, ever, knew what it looked like. The only people staying overnight were close family and we didn't mind mess.
