I know what spuggies are - I'm married to a northerner, and a brother has lived in Yorkshire for far far longer than he lived darn sarf.
Didn't understand the Russian though. That was what I asked about.
Lovely day today. Did absolutely nothing, just enjoyed looking at the garden and enjoying the bees and butterflies instead of working in it. Thunderstorms due but like yesterday's promise deluge I expect the will miss us again.

I take that back about it missing us. Suddenly the wind has got up, there is lightning about and the weather radar app show lots of heavy rain due to go right over us.
I don't mind the rain and the lightning but with so many trees around all in full leaf I do worry about the wind.

Well here in Kettering we had quite a bit of T & L and it poured down. I'm just off to bed and it's piss cistantly pouring down. Excuse the spelling.

Haven't had a good dose of thunder and lightning here for a long while . Distant rumbles don't count.

Well it was spectacular here while it lasted. Now we have the problem of a new lawn which is too wet to walk on but is also covered in leaves, and I mean covered in leaves, you can barely see the grass in places.
Still hot and humid here and feels like we are in for another round of storms later.
Could be worse, we could be in Death Valley.

We had a water bill last year for nearly Euro 3,000 - a little high for a quarter Complained about it and was told its because we water the grass ! So - end result was plastic grass (same as the football pitches)... Euro 1700 to install, clean it with a blower and this years similar bill was Euro 43.... more than happy with that.... Oh another bonus - NO GRASS CUTTING

We thought about plastic grass, but it was just way too much money for decent looking stuff.
I didn't particularly want any sort of grass but His Nbs thought it was an easy option - I said fine as long you mow it and rake it and aerate it and feed it. We don't have a lot of grass, about 20mē but I am already doubting agreeing to it.
His Nibs said he'd do the garden as part of his plan to convince me to buy this place. So far I've done most of it, and can see the grass becoming my job too if it isn't to turn into another knee high weedpatch.
I fully exepct our water bill to be high this year - though not as high as yours (I hope!) - due to the heatwave immediately after the grass was laid.

How about letting flowering weeds take over? That's my plan for when old age makes mowing the lawn difficult. No need to water or feed, don't mow until seed has set and dispersed, and feel good about helping pollinators and other wildlife. As for aerating, that's always seemed to be too much like hard work.

His Nibs just announced that we should look for something smaller in a couple of years time. When we were looking for somewhere I was looking at smaller places but he insisted on a couple of guest rooms (for the guests who never come?) amusic room and a couple of shed etc etc now he says this? Grr.
