This image off the BBC News raised my awareness

Because last summer I stood where the boats are moored taking pictures of the bridge

I'm finding it hard to picture the amount of the water that would have to be dumped on a place to raise the water levels so much.
That's terrifying and amazing at the same time.

Those are amazing pictures Barrie.
The sun actually shone here today. Still really windy, but the sun was good to see. Rain due again soon though. The back garden has finally drained enough we can go out there, and the canal has dropped maybe 20cm, the pumps are doing their job.
Meanwhile we have snowdrops, daffodils and a rose all in flower.

It always amazes me how quickly the water butt fills up from what seems like a small amount of rain falling on the shed roof. Maths explains it (small depth on a big area = big depth on a small area) but it still seems amazing.I'm finding it hard to picture the amount of the water that would have to be dumped on a place to raise the water levels so much.

I've just replaced my computer chair and am happy to report a significant increase in comfort. I know, anything but the comfy chair.......
Best regards, John

I'm looking for a new computer chair. Mine leaves me in agony after half an hour or so.
Glad you found one that works for you John.
So I didn't get my new desk yesterday. His Nibs is losing interest in the project it seems, but I still need his help for a few things before I can just carry on with out him, so it could take a while yet. At least his sister coming to visit in April should mean its done by then!

Any ideas for chairs? I've been using an Ikea Markus for around half a year and it's been pretty good. I'm a sloucher though and I'm not sure I can fix that.

Nothing wrong with slouching. It's sitting and not moving for hours that causes issues.

I went for a mesh chair rather than the usual leather. It's incredibly comfortable and at less than £100 great value. I can swivel to my desk and then back to the PC as required and it's all very efficient.
Now I just need to find something worthwhile to say!

I have a cheap (£20 from Argos, I think) secretary's chair, which I find really comfortable.
What annoys me about these chairs is that they have five 'feet' and if you need to replace the the casters, you have to buy them in fours!

SteveH!
Some people call me 'strange'.
I prefer 'unconventional'.
But I'm willing to compromise and accept 'eccentric'.

I bought a mesh one from Costco about 3 yrs ago (just over £100) and it's pretty good, although I did have to get a car seat pad to put on the seat to make it more comfortable for long periods.
NB: I wish these seats had some sort of device that would enable you to "lock" it in position on the floor if required, as I often find myself going backwards when pushing hard on something on the adjacent workbench - had to fit locking casters on a garage seat for that reason.

K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

Don't have Costco, and can't see the chair in the link.
Ah well my search will go on.

Just when everyone is supposed to be planting trees to help relieve floods Warwickshire CC has uprooted a half mile avenue of mature trees just to widen the road into Leamington Spa, resulting at a bottleneck where it narrows again. I do wonder where they find these boneheads.
They're 'improving' a local junction where turning right is apain..
..how are they doing it?
They're taking all right hand traffic from one road around a loop to the left and then right across a complicated set of traffic lights..
...now...
..at a fraction of the cost they could have installed filter lights, left the roads as are and improved flow 2-300 per cent.
But that wouldn't justify the planners huge wages...
Is it to early for a beer?
K110+DA40, K200+DA35, K3 and a bag of lenses, bodies and other bits.
Mustn't forget the Zenits, or folders, or...
PPG entries.
