On another subject, is a small glass of my wife's sloe gin drunk late at night likely to have been the cause of not being able to sleep well for the first few hours of the night? Is a confirmatory test needed tonight? Is anyone around here an expert on such matters?

Steve
In my experience you need at least three large ones in order to form any opinion at all.

If it's anything like my SILs sloe gin you need a couple of glasses a night for a few nights to test your theory.

The test in underway. An empty glass (once full) is beside me as I type. It's the 2018 vintage.

Thank you for your interest, folks. Results from last night are inconclusive. More experimentation is needed. But not tonight. The effects would be masked by the real ale at a real pub that is on tonight's agenda.

We never seem to keep wine for very long in the RobL household but this week I received a Majestic Wines selection box from a grateful client as well as the prize from our photo group, so enough to see us through the next few weeks. As my choice is usually from the bottom shelf at the Co-op I am looking forward to sampling them.

There's a bottom shelf at the Co-op?

I thouhgt I'd have seen that as I crawled through to the check out!

Just back from a local market with 3 pheasants and a kilo of mixed game meat for pies/casseroles. That's my sort of shopping.

One of the birds is now sat in some red wine and herbs awaiting he stove lighting so we can cook it for tomorrows evening meal.

* forgot to say the birds are dead and plucked, not alive...

I took that for granted because there is no chance you would let it drink red wine you wanted

Tragic news of Kobe Bryant passing in a helicopter crash. I’m not exactly a fan of basketball but he is certainly an icon.

Here I am sitting and cursing with the pain of gout in my right hip and you lot are rabbiting on about red wine, beer and game meats ! It's enough to make you reach for a glass of port.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Poor David!
After a trip to the emergency doctor last weekend I am on painkillers and strong antacids so no booze or game for me either.

Deathly silence here. If I could have had a gin or three I would have, but see above.
Saw one Union Jack at half mast.
I hope Pentax pull their finger out on the new model so I have a chance to buy it from SRS before the end of the year.

On a brighter note I am nearly at 10,000 posts
