I got back yesterday from a weekend near Burton upon Trent, at a family wedding. Between us we drank the hotel dry of Bass, and were forced onto the Boddies.
Good wedding, lovely couple. Always good to catch up with family, meet new people and sit back and watch my brother's wife throwing a tantrum or ten. It's just a shame she did it on the day his daughter got married.
We came back to 30C heat and a terrific thunderstorm last night. I'm glad it arrived later than forecast - it would not have been fun in a Dash 3.

Our 40th anniversary tomorrow. Not sure how that happened. Nothing special planned due to aforementioned wedding.

I meant pre birthday beers

I hadn't had enough to justify spelling errors

Cheers, HG

You need the birthday card that's sitting in my desk drawer ......
It shows a bloke (probably like you?) tipping a pint back and says, "On your birthday have a sup. In fact, have another sup"
You open it and there's a later picture of him and the comment, "Just make sure you don't end up arse up!"
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

I even managed to move on to another two pubs in Llangollen after Pontblyddyn

Some fairly heavy goodbyes in Fremantle today. Presently in a hotel in the middle of Perth China town. Left so many places and countries over the last thirty years and as I get older it's a different severance each time. Harder? Maybe. With age brings acceptance and lenience. I'm not judgmental (in public or on forums).

Another posting is in the offering, I await the decision.

I'm still active and am shooting.

AUSTRALIA. A great country full of great characters!

I'm glad to be going yet sad to be leaving.

So many new friends and acquaintances that will now become email contacts. Better than snail mail I suppose.

In forty eight hours I'll be on an A380 to Dubai then on to the UK for a short spell before leaving to another post.

For ALL of our Australian members I say "thank you all, it's been a pleasure and I thank you for your friendship, acceptance, lifestyle and tolerance of the POM that pushed a camera into your face when you least expected it".

You are a great people, with foresight, tolerance and a nation of united people.

So many times over the last thirty five years I have done this exercise. Only of late and the internet I have had the opportunity to publicly express my feelings.

We all move on and nothing is constant.

G'day mates and I'll miss the Sheila's
Inspiration is rarer than a plate glass camera.....

All the best for your new assignment Gary. Good to hear you enjoyed your time over here.

Any volunteers to come Oz for a while and make up the numbers.
