Another pointless thread

While in San Francisco we were invited to a Halloween party at a small internet company, which must remain anonymous.

We went dressed as two European tourists, and were very successful at it.

They have three floors in an old skyscraper in downtown SF. Two floors are office space, the third is their recreation space. They have a bar, fully equipped with every drink under the sun, including local micro-brews and spirits. They have fridges full of food, fresh fruit, at least three top restaurants will deliver to them, plus of course all the normal take-outs. Friday is party night anyway, but Halloween made it more special. Boxes and boxes of pizza, salads, cakes, booze, lots of twenty and thirty somethings in ridiculous outfits.
There was a pool table, a huge TV (Man U were playing so some blokes were watching that of course, including His Nibs briefly ), pinball machine, 3-D printer to play with, table soccer, and more. Also two soundproofed rooms for brainstorming, and a hidden library, with more books than my local library has. Truly a remarkable place.

That sounds to have been a very 'interesting' experience Gwyn

You hear about all the excesses of the internet companies, but find it hard to believe them until you actually witness it for yourself. The company has taken all the employees to Hawaii twice, and regularly takes them on weekend trips to different wine areas in California. Unusually for a US company they give unlimited vacation and expect everyone to take at least 4 weeks a year. It was all very impressive, and refreshing.

Just about over the jetlag. I fell asleep at the computer yesterday evening. Took that as a cue to stop photo editing and head to bed.

Spicy noodle stir fry type thing eaten and just beer to drink now to complete my normal Friday spicy food and beer night

Not quite as opulent as the internet company Gwyn but it will do for me

..or weird!

I'm having a valiant battle with a barrel of home-brew, I need it empty so I can use it for another brew before Christmas..

...I think I'm winning...

Glad to hear you had a good time Gwyn, welcome back to normality.
Cheers, HG
