Gwynn, I refuse to believe that happened in England; it was the Scottish Highlands surely?

I've seen it on a TV cooking program. But can't remember the name of the chef that's noted for shouting at his customers

I'm not naming names. It is in a tiny village in Kent, and I don't want SIL to suffer anything more than a leg pulling for the incident. If I name names everyone will know who was involved and it could get nasty for her.
Not run by a Fawlty or an effing chef either.
Certainly a birthday to remember anyway.
Nice website Pa!

Surely the entire rest of the country is east of Wales? So how do we avoid it if we don't know the name, on the other hand, avoid that part of the country altogether. Is there any point in being south of the Humber or east of Wales
In fact the only way you could not be east of Wales would be being in Wales. Which is only acceptable if there's a rugby match on or you're getting the ferry to Ireland.

Wales used to extend well into Cumbria - have a look at place names and there are lots of clues there.
The British Isles (if that's what it is these days, United Kingdom if you prefer) has seen many Kingdoms within it in the long course of history.

Truer to say that Welsh was the language up as far as Cumbria- and further North too- e.g. the town of Penicuik, just outside Edinburgh, was apparently originally Pen-y-Cuik: old Welsh! Wales used to extend well into Cumbria...
Pointless or what?

The only place outside Wales that welsh is spoken is a small area in Argentina.
Welsh miners went there in the 19th century and took the language with them..
...so if you want to speak welsh you have a very wide choice of destinations..
