Another pointless thread

It's a long way to Tipperary so a satnav would probably be useful

Another day another ship. I hope the sat nav can find the pub we've booked.
I hate DFDS cross Channel ferries. Nort Sea is great but Channel ferries are nasty

I wish this website would work with my phone, so I could correct typos.

Quick Question. Have you travelled via the Tunnel Gwyn? I haven't so is on my Bucket List well below "Go somewhere nice, South of the Equator", always wanted to go to New Zealand, but don't think there would be any point now

"always wanted to go to New Zealand, but don't think there would be any point now "

Well, this is a pointless thread, so that's fine.

I have used the tunnel several times, both passenger and car trains. It is highly efficient when it's working and the terminals are MUCH nicer than the ones for the ferry.

The experience on-board the car trains can most charitably be described as short, they aren't a nice place to be, but you don't have to stay there very long.

I do have a poor record at picking exactly the wrong time to try and ride the tunnel though. I've never come back from France on it without it breaking in some way. I don't think it's particularly unreliable, you just don't want to try and travel at the same time as me!
you don't have to be mad to post here

but it does help

Then you should post your travel dates on here to protect the innocent

I used to use the Tunnel all the time. I even got free trips with their frequent flier scheme. But it is so expensive compared to the ferries I can't justify it anymore. A short darkish journey in the comfort of your own vehicle.
They used to put you on the next train out, but changed it so you had to wait for the one you had booked, even if you were hours early. Not sure what they do now. The ferry sticks you on the next boat if there is room.

I've just opened a bottle of Thwaites. Decided it must be my lack of imbibing that is holding back the England team (though I'll probably need a crate if we're going to score at this rate :shock

Just enjoyed a cider or two, followed by a glass of mediocre Merlot with my even more mediocre evening meal.

Glad rags day tomorrow for nephew's wedding. I'll even be wearing a dress
