Pentax MX-1 Shake Reduction Options
It is amazing the quality that Pentax achieved with the MX-1's small sensor. It makes one wonder what an amazing mirrorless compact they could produce with one of the bigger sensors, and by adding an EVF and a hot-shoe. If only.... Cheers. Philip

Pentax MX-1 Shake Reduction Options
Ricoh on April 12th in response to rumours said... 'RICOH is focusing its resource on the high added value products such as PENTAX and GR that are appreciated by the existing users and photo hobbyists.' I take that to mean the APS-C sensored GR to continue with a new model at some point. The Q...

Q news?
I've still got the original (white) Q and would never get rid of it. I love the build quality and neat design, it produces amazing photos for such a small sensor! particularly with the 01 and 06 lenses. It's a classic :D

Which Q?
Of the four Q models, any agreement which is "the best"? The latter ones have a larger sensor, but I have heard several people argue the original has nicer ergonomics etc. I might just get a Pentax 110 Auto instead.... ;) Thanks, Kris.

Which Q?
In terms of ergonomics I don't think it makes any difference. In terms of quality the bigger sensor is better. My Q S-1 gives results identical to my MX-1. Both are superb cameras.

Which Q?
The build quality of the original Q is superior, but it falls far short of the image quality of the Q-7 and Q-S1 which share the same sensor. As John pointed out, there is little to choose between the ergonomics of these which is sometimes challenging for those of us with fat fingers. I think ...

Which Q?
Thanks folks. I'd assumed the larger sensor was the way to go. There seem to be more Q-S1's for sale than Q7s which are surprisingly pricey. Best wishes, Kris.

I'm thinking about buying a mirrorless digital camera, what do you suggest?
For mirrorless cameras the main options are the Q (small sensor) or various models from Sony, Fujifilm or Panasonic & Olympus (micro four thirds). I have a Fuji X-M1 and would certainly recommend one of the APS-C options (Sony or Fujifilm) for maximum image quality and they won't cost more than a...

I'm thinking about buying a mirrorless digital camera, what do you suggest?
If you want compact and light, then a Pentax KS-1 or KS-2 is as small and light as a DSLR gets, and is as compact and light as many mirrorless cameras. The reason I say this is that the limiting factor tends to be the lens. A huge lens on a tiny mirrorless camera makes it very much the same as a hug...

I'm thinking about buying a mirrorless digital camera, what do you suggest?
Let’s step back a bit - what reason to go mirrorless? Mostly for reduced size and weight although high frame rate and movie options are also a consideration. For saving weight it seems that you have to go for a smaller sensor like 4/3rds as the size and weight of lenses is directly proportional to t...

I'm thinking about buying a mirrorless digital camera, what do you suggest?
Apart from the problem of using a lens on a camera body that it was never designed for. Lens adapters introduce other problems and aren't recommended  See: ..... https://wordpress.lensrentals.com/blog/2013/09/there-is-no-free-lunch-episode-763-lens-adapters/ -- For someone who makes hi...

I'm thinking about buying a mirrorless digital camera, what do you suggest?
I thought we weren’t allowed to discuss other brands here? I’ve had posts removed before because they weren’t about Pentax. Mirrorless (by virtue of shallower mounting distances), are compatible with a huge range of lenses from different brands via adaptors. I find their focus peaking and d...

I'm thinking about buying a mirrorless digital camera, what do you suggest?
Image result for I'm thinking about buying a mirrorless digital camera, what do you suggest? If image size and quality, especially in low light, is important to you, choose a camera with either an APS-C or full-frame sensor. However, if you're looking for a compact camera that offers more control a...

I really must stop...
OK, I’ve tried it out for a day or two (I’ll put a few of my test shots up at some point) and my initial thoughts are as follows. I quite like the Q10, but it’s a bit disappointing. There’s a lot to like about it - it feels well made and it’s quite well balanced, it produces RAW files and takes g...

I really must stop...
I have both an original Q (did have two but sold one) and a Q7. The Q10 has the same sensor as the Q, but the Q7 does have a larger sensor [1/1.7 inch (7.6mm x 5.7mm)] compared to the Q/Q10 [1/2.3" (6.17 x 4.55 mm)] This certainly helps with image quality (a little bit!)

Q lenses
You didn't mention the 01 standard prime. It's a good lens and f1.9 can be very useful at lower light levels, (particularly with the original Q which appreciates getting a decent number of photons on the sensor). I've got an 01 (as well as the 02 and 06 zooms) and wouldn't swap it for any number of ...

Pentax K-01, Still relevant in 2019?
I currently own 3 K-01’s and thought I’d P/x one of them along with a few bits and bobs towards a new lens at a well known camera store, Anyway to cut a long story short myself and the sales manager started comparing the basics of the k-01 compared to more modern equivalents, large sensor with a...

Q 08 lens for the Pentax Q7 - worth the upgrade from the Q 02 ?
Although long since discontinued, I still use my trusty Pentax Q7 for a lot of my cycle tour travel photography (although my smart phone does get used more and more often these days). So, I'd be interested to hear from anyone who took the plunge and invested in the Q 08 lens to know if they felt th...

Q 08 lens for the Pentax Q7 - worth the upgrade from the Q 02 ?
I've got one and from my experiences it's definitely a special lens. The IQ doesn't have the same compromises that the 02 lens does (distortion/fringing etc) and it really mimics a larger format lens extremely well. The only reason it doesn't get so much use is because the Q system doesn't get so mu...
