Pentax Q to K adaptors
I've got the genuine Pentax version, had it for a couple of months. It's pricey but very well made. You're right about it allowing use of lenses without an aperture ring. I always use the iris shutter and haven't noticed any effect on battery life. Any effect is probably minimal compared to the powe...

Imagining an MX-2
Copied from For Sale topic for an MX-1. I don't use mine very often (mainly KP now) but, when I do, the image quality even SOOC still amazes me. Better than other similar small sensor cameras I've had (Fuji, Samsung, Lumix, Olympus) all of which have been sold. Ebay prices appear to show tha...

Imagining an MX-2
The MX-1 shared much of its technology with the Olympus XZ-2 including the sensor and lens. MX-1 development seems to have been dropped when Ricoh took Pentax over soon after the MX-1's release in 2013. There was no successor to the Olympus either so presumably the collaboration ceased.

Imagining an MX-2
I've often ponderd what an improved MX-1 (MX-2?) should be:- - bigger sensor, - faster max. frame rate, - slightly lighter (I know some like all the the weight), - better auto white balance in artificial light, - better low light performance, and - weather & dust resistance (This could...

Don t hold your breath for a Pentax Mirrorless SLR !!
Question: When you enter live view the mirror is pulled up out of the way. Something holds it there for the entire time it is up. (I'm guessing electromagnets). How much strain does this put on the mechanism generally and does constant use of it cause extra wear and tear? There is also a soft whir...

Don t hold your breath for a Pentax Mirrorless SLR !!
Biggest difference really if you go mirrorless is the on sensor auto focus points (just like the Pentax K-70 has?) which then feeds a processor with the real world image continuously (instead of only when the mirror is up). This allows for tracking autofocus, both of objects and people and even eyes...

Don t hold your breath for a Pentax Mirrorless SLR !!
Yep as far as I know all other mirrorless cameras have come with a new mount and an adapter to use older lenses. That’s the biggest reason I can see for Pentax not entering the mirrorless market, and having to duplicate the lens lineup in a different mount. Outside of the mount, mirrorless ha...

I Photographed the Moon … with the Q S-1
What that little sensor in the Q-S1 is really giving you is a lot of pixels in a small area. That means it can resolve a lot of detail (assuming the lens can provide it!) which wouldn't be resolved by a typical FF sensor. A FF sensor with the same pixel density, and thus resolution, as the Q-S1 woul...

new Ricoh gr camera has clues to upcoming Pentax models?
I see the familiar Pentax Tav mode on the dial.. and the "effects" filters and the familiar aps-c sensor... but the use of the ricoh hotshoe tells me there is a need to distinguish this model from Pentax.. I suspect the k-02 would include much of the same internals as this camera, in a kmount bo...

Ricoh GR (more than a hint of Pentax about it)
Have you seen the New Ricoh GR? What a lovely little APS-C compact camera. It has the same sensor as the K-5/K-5II/K-5IIs/K30 and K-01 Have Pentax had some input into this little beauty? I think so, the clue is on the dial. Yep, that unique to Pentax mode is sat on the dial - TAv Looks ...

Ricoh GR (more than a hint of Pentax about it)
For my pocket camera it boiled down to a choice between the Q and the Ricoh GRDIV. I went for a Q as there was a good offer on. The new GR is slightly larger than the Q although more pocketable as the lens retracts. But the sensor is thirteen times larger. Thirteen!!!!!!!! It's going to be hard ...

Ricoh GR (more than a hint of Pentax about it)
Have to say this is ticking a lot of boxes for me. Want something more compact than my X100. Of particular interest is the USB charging in camera, to save lugging an extra charger around. Anoyone know if they use a standard USB mini (or micro) cable? Have you seen the New Ricoh GR? What ...

Ricoh GR review
It has been good to see Paulyrichard's pictures and experiences with the new Ricoh GR. It looks very gucci and is getting some excellent reviews; it has certainly piqued my interest. I saw this hands-on review on Steve Huff's page and thought others on here might be interested. Very complimentary as...

GXR with A12 28mm F2.5
The idea of the system is unusual, my reservation being that different sensors have different characteristics, so changing lenses means changing the way images look. Also, it's not possible to upgrade the sensor (by buying a new body) without having to upgrade the lens at the same time. To be abs...

GXR with A12 28mm F2.5
From what I've read about it, this camera system's selling point is optimisation of the lens & sensor combinations by them being specially designed and sealed together as a unit. Thats the theory anyway, as I understand it. Apart from any specific IQ benefits from this matching, an obvious pract...

RICOH GR 2.03 firmware update...
47mm crop gives you 5mp on a bit more than the equivalent of a 1 inch sensor. 35mm gives you 10mp on a bit less than a 4/3rds sensor. With 21mm available with the adaptor and 21mm lens, on the full APS-C sensor, it's pretty versatile for a fixed-focal length camera.

Discovered the GXR
Since picking up a Ricoh GR in January, I've been really impressed by it. I love the small size and impressive image quality. The little 28mm lens is particularly good. I was suprised to find I like the shooting with the LCD, you can see the effects of different aspect ratios and bw/colour, etc befo...

Discovered the GXR
Yes it's a shame the GXR didn't take off. I'm sure the cost of having to buy a new sensor with every lens put a lot of people off and it's difficult to get past the fact that perfectly good lenses become obsolete with sensor technology. I wouldn't have been particularly interested myself in this sys...
