Greetings from SW London
Hi everybody. I'm delighted to have joined such an friendly and informative forum. I've decided to get back into more "serious" photography after some years of inactivity. I originally gained a good grounding following the childhood purchase and use of a manual Halina 6-4. That lapsed in my late...

my belated hello
hi everyone - long time lurker and only recent member of this fine forum here. have enjoyed digital photography ever since my first 1.5MP Fuji over a decade ago, and via a series of increasingly better compacts, then to a pretty decent bridge camera, I arrived at my first DSLR last year - a Samsung ...

First time here....
Two useful resources: http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp/ For everything about the Pentax K-mount (which is what the K7 has). http://stans-photography.info/ For advice on older lenses. Pentax has raised the prices of its lenses in the last year or two, and you may decide to buy second-hand. If ...

New user of K-x
G'day and welcome, you've picked a very good camera - excellent sensor etc (which I'm sure you knew). There's a forum on this site for lenses, and another for flash photography. You may find those useful. :)

Wotcha!
Hi there, I thought now was a good time to make my first post here - I can wish you all a happy new year! Pentax and I go back quite a few years - I still have my first - a Spotmatic F. I don't run much film these days but its nice to have around. I've a couple of more recent Pentax film camer...

Restrictions - K mount lenses
Hi John Thanks. What you saying is that it's back to manual. If so,that's OK with me as I work most of the time in manual anyway. I wasn't sure if there are any other restrictions such as lens to sensor size. So will a K mount lens still fill the full size of the sensor. I've been using Pentax came...

Hi everyone - from a new pentax owner
Hi everyone, I'm new here, though I've been lurking around following the forums for the past few weeks looking for info about the K5 - I'm a soon to be K5 owner (fingers crossed no issues with it), made my decision to order it from SRS from all the good comments and the assurances from Chris regardi...

Hi everyone - from a new pentax owner
G'day and welcome Vince - as Pentax has now released a service notice about actions on discovery of marks on any new K5 sensor, you should be covered in the unlikely event.

Finally adding digital to PK stable
Hi, I have just joined as I am looking at finally investing in a DSLR. For many years I used Pentax mount film cameras - I have a Cosina CS-1 (with Auto Adapter!), Pentax ME Super, Pentax K1000, and Pentax MG. When DSLRs came out there was no way with a young family that I could afford one, ...

Great Community
Been a member for a while and have read loads of threads. Some of the guys on here know their stuff. Very useful for a novice like myself. I cant seem to see a forum for other brands as friendy and useful as this. Some consolation as my K5 (first ever DSLR) is away with sensor staining currently (...

hello again.
Good to see you back. I used to have a K-7 and upgraded to the K-5 which unfortunately was an early one with sensor staining. Due to shortage of stock I had to wait a while for a replacement but had the use of a K-r for a few weeks. Nice camera and I liked it but did find the singe control wheel...

New K7 colour not great.
Pentax cameras are noted for their superb colour. It's one of the things I love most about my two cameras and yours is both a newer model and fitted with a more modern processor and sensor. You don't say what you're photographing or where or what the prevailing lighting conditions are. Try photograp...

New K7 colour not great.
That could be it... above ISO1600 the colour certainly becomes increasingly muted! Other than that, experiment with the colour settings and have a go at customising them if you like. I used to have an istDL2, with the same sensor as the K100... I came across some old 'straight out of the camera' ...

New K7 colour not great.
I think you are experiencing the differences between CCD and CMOS which the K7 has, it certainly seems that the K7/KX/KR need more post processing to get the best images from the camera compared to the now 'old' CCD sensor cameras. As regards settings on the K7,In custom image zero all settings apa...

New K7 colour not great.
Jo, t might be a good idea to post a few shots just to let other K7 users have a look. They may spot something which could help you, particularly those who have moved from a CCD to CMOS sensor.

Hello from a Oly to Pentax convert
Welcome Paul, I did the same as you a while go, I had an E520, which I liked, but I decided to switch to Pentax as I found the four-thirds sensor too noisy at high ISO. I first bought a K7, now got a K5, and am very glad I made the switch!

Hello from a Oly to Pentax convert
Welcome Paul. I used to admire Olympus cameras in the days of film. They were neat, carefully made and had lovely little lenses. I bought my wife one, in fact! They made an error, to my way of thinking, in introducing such a small sensor when things went digital. I know they've improved noise-co...

Hello all, new to Pentax and DSLR
With K mount rather than KA mount you'll have to press the green button to meter before each shot, and shoot in M mode. With KA mount you can use the semi auto modes. Don't forget that a K mount 50mm on a crop-sensor camera like the K10D will feel like a 75mm from your film camera days.

froazen image and nothing works on my pentax k5!!
It's the anti shake mounting that allows movement of the sensor. All recent Pentaxes do that. Th salesman should have known that!
