Not just a Program A & a 50mm
No, its my father's Program A and its seen better days. I borrowed it from him last time I went home for Christmas vacations. He still doesnt want to give it to me... I admit I only want it for th 50mm F1.4, I'd rather have an MX... His reluctance is understandable since he paid so much f...

A slightly odd ME
In the Danilo Cecchi book "Asahi Pentax 1952-89", many of the cameras have that disc on them. It has Garanzia API printed on it. You may have an eyetie ME! Perhaps some enthusiastic cleaning rubbed the printing off! If you ever happen to find a copy of the above mentioned book, it is well worth ...

smc F* 250-600mm
Looks to be front focusing a bit to me. I'm amazed at the exposures your getting at 500ISO this time of year 1/1600 at f/5.6 and the exposure is spot on, so the lens must let a lot of light through. Well.. don't discount technique yet! It's probably me that's mis focusing! The exposure is jus...

What's in my bag today
A fabulous bagful, Kris. There's admittedly something about film cameras but, in fact, digital cameras are even more special to me, as their identity can't be altered by using different films. What you buy is what you're stuck with and they're all different. Put a roll of Velvia through any decent S...

My Pentax MX
My second favourite camera after the Spotmatic... K10 is my third favourite. In case anyone is interested. I know a stripped-down digital version of an MX (or Spotmatic) wouldn't really appeal to many people but it's a tantalising thought. I think a lot of people on here would go for a digital M...

LX...at last
As suggested I'd look at a B&W film (my preference is Ilford). Think of it as the sensor in your DSLR but one you can change the characteristics of - all films have different 'looks' to them, some are more suited to a given application than others (fine grain/high speed etc.). Processing isn't ch...

Used bargains
A D-FA 28-105 WR for a shade over £200. Essentially new (so doing away with the 'used' aspect somewhat), and a big thanks to a chap from this forum who went above and beyond to help me acquire it. I loved the 18-135mm on APS-C so I'm looking forward to taking this out on the K-1! As for used barg...

SMC 28mm f/3.5 SHIFT on MX
I've got one too, as does JAK. Between us, we've probably got the greatest concentration of these lenses in any group in the world! Quite possibly! Just wish to point out again that on Pentax digital cameras, the sensor can be shifted when live view is turned on which amounts doing to the same thin...

SMC 28mm f/3.5 SHIFT on MX
How far does the sensor shift compared to using the lens? I've never tried the sensor shift. K.

Pentax K-3 Mark III Remote Shutter Control
Remotes normally need a line of sight with the little sensor on the body, but other options for which this doesn’t apply are: Image sync to phone/tablet by Bluetooth. This will also let you operate exposure settings and select a focus point. Radio connection. I don’t know the options for Pentax bu...

New arrivals this morning
I had a hankering to build up a f/3.5 set using the K series. The 35/3.5 was properly manky when it arrived from Belgium but it a bit of elbow grease, Zeiss cleaning liquid and it turned out quite nicely. The 85/2.8 Soft is quiet the weird one, quite cheap too (less than £150 after shipping and taxe...

Pentax K10d and Sigma 18-50 F28 lens
Yes basic RAW mode is available for bracketing, however I selected "extended" bracketing - "contrast" which the camera can ONLY use with JPEG. I don't want to hassle you with an extended argument about all this - if you're not happy with the camera then fair enough, and sometimes...

Discontinued Pentax Items
If Pentax bring out a 'full-frame' camera there will be no need for the 645. It is far too specialised and needs its own lenses. 35mm digital seems to be the new medium format for quality and resolution. It would make more sense to have camera which is at least partially compatible with existing len...

Sold. FA* 300 f/4,5 Sold.
The front element is damaged, but if you don't know it you won't hardly notice. It's the 'fuziness' you can see right to the rectangular reflection on the photo (sorry, that was the best one I was able to take.) Like I said, you won't notice it in the picture quality, even with the light in front...

For Sale Set of 3 Extension Tubes SOLD
Hi John, There's a simple modification you can make to these tubes to allow the the aperture to be controlled by the body. A small area of paint can be scraped away to left of the contacts and this will allow the final body contact to work (there are 7 contacts on the body and only 6 on the tube...
