Mono March mists

Lovely work. The first one especially....... Agreed ! This is another type of shot that I consistently fail at, there is a fine line between flat, dull images (I'm good at those) and low contrast with good tonal range. Apart from your "eye" I suspect this is where the choice of camera makes a real...

Some shots with the Sigma APO EX 800mm f/5.6

I don’t know this lens at all. It looks very sharp. Good job cleaning it up.

Roche Grass Track racing

Great set. Just to weigh in on the "blur to show movement" argument, for myself I prefer sharp because I'm often looking for detail that motion blur obscures. And I think the motion is entirely obvious in these images. How long did it take to clean your rig? I do quite a lot of motorsport pictur...

One of my earliest photos rediscovered - do you recognise him?

Back in the late 70's and early 80's as a teenager I often trogged up to the Malvern Winter Gardens at a weekend to see if I could sneak into one of the many concerts held there, sometimes I could beg, borrow or steal (the stealing was in the form of nicking empty bottles and taking them to the shop...

In the Garden with the Laowa 15mm f4 Macro

Thanks folks. Appreciated. does it support full frame or just APSC? It does support FF but I haven't tried it yet. John Riley of this parish reviewed it for ePhotozine in 2015, testing it on a FF camera (Nikon 810). He commented that there was distinct barrel distortion and that centre sharpness ...

The smallest ever SLR

The K10D isn't my first foray into Pentax-land, many moons ago I had (and still have actually) a Pentax Auto 110 kit - the smallest SLR ever made. As nobody has posted any A110 photos I thought I'd put a couple up so that those who've never seen one can marvel at its sheer diminutive-ness. Now if so...

The smallest ever SLR

Minox and Lieca should tremble in fear at the prospect of a 6-8 mp Digital slr from pentax that takes those lenses (and even a few new ones)... I can't imagine finding a full frame sensor would be difficult... Hell even a digital camera sensor set into a 110 film cartridge that you could pop int...

The smallest ever SLR

see I thought about that, even got as far as considering dismantling an old Pentax EI-100 which I have lying around, but I don't think there's space behind the film plane without extending the back of the camera. There's a test reported on www.pentax110.co.uk which has the System 10 24mm outperfo...

The smallest ever SLR

You'll have to ask beakynet - I did send him a couple of the digicams to have a play with but not heard anything since so I'm guessing it's not as easy as it sounds..? :? The digicam sensor is very small, and then there is the issue of the 'almost' integrated lens! My last 110 film was returned w...

Latest "M" Purchase Need Another For The Prime Set

From the penultimate picture your sensor needs cleaning! Yes your right that's why I don't usually go above F5.6 or the marks show. It's been like that ever since I went to a tank show and was changing lenses when a tank went past and kicked up a lot of dust. I did ask for a Pentax cleaning kit in m...

As he took the picture in June 2006, its a rather unfair comment to say he sensor needs cleaning... although I see he does say he hasn't cleaned it since. Interesting comment that marks dissapear when small apperture is used I would have thought that as it was on the sensor it would make no di...

Well actually Bob, it's never been cleaned at all but hopefully Dan will be coming round tonite and that will be resolved. If it works I'll buy whatever stuff Dan uses. Indeed I will - sent you an email this morning, but if you haven't seen it yet I'll be there about 7.30. :) I shall be using...

I'm sure you'll all be pleased to know that Dan came round to my house last night and cleaned the sensor of my DS for the first time ever. Well it has made a huge difference so I'll have to buy the swabs and cleaner and have a go myself eventually when it next needs doing. Thanks Dan it's mile...

All the "M" Well almost (before the hammer falls)

I don't think this battery business is really relevant. It's not like a DSLR, which consumes lots of big, heavy, hungry, batteries. You put a battery in the Super A and it will last for a year, maybe three. And a spare is smaller and lighter than a 2p piece, so it's not a problem to carry a lifet...
