airshow
I love the first one in particular with its sense of action. Some good close aerial shots there, good job! I've had a small patch on the sensor for a long time, and it only shows up on skies. It's never been any issue to remove it with the 'spot healing brush' as there is plenty of similar image co...

Q-S1 in Devon
It was shot at 35mm and ISO 400. The original Q is capable of very nice quality, but the Q-S1 is better, on a par with the excellent MX-1. Both the Q-S1 and MX-1 have the slightly larger sensor, and as compact cameras this small difference does make a visible difference in quality.

Q-S1 in Devon
That's a cracking shot John..the detail is superb. I'm not really up on these little compacts regarding the sensor sizes and apparent magnifications but what does that 15-45 lens equate to in 35mm terms? My Canon compact is starting to show signs of wear...i'll definitely look at these newer Pent...

Help identifying fungi please
Well folks here I am again with a second crop of chicken of the woods. My first crop this year was on/off of a beech tree in the woods. This crop is off my old faithful 200yr old Yew tree in my garden. It needed a little cleaning but is now cut up and has been blanched in boiling salted water for 5m...

Damselfies with the 645z
I know they should be good with that lens and sensor but you've still got to press the shutter at the right time and in the correct manner and you most certainly have

A trip down memory lane
Having a few days off work and at a loose end yesterday, I decided to drive out to Withernsea on the East Yorks coast. Between the ages of 11-14, I lived 10 miles from here and have fond memories of bike rides there with my friends during the summer holidays. My impression of Withernsea itself i...

A wasp nest - right from the beginning - image heavy
Great capture. Lucky you moved it early. I've noticed some parts of these white Magic Erasers used for cleaning foam etc. scooped out. I wonder if they are made from foamed wood and wasps are using them? --

Abroad with the MX-1
Superb quality and variety (as always  ) - I was very tempted to get one just before a trip to the Lakes earlier this week, but my biggest concern is how big images from the smallish sensor cope. I love my Q, but i'd struggle to get a half decent A3 from it - do you think the MX-1 would cope?

Abroad with the MX-1
If anyone has experience of printing to that sort of size form the MX-1 I'd be interested to hear how they got on. David seems to think it's possible, but before I take a punt I'd like to know if people have done it ! I routinely make A3 prints from the Q-S1 and MX-1 cameras and enter them in compet...

Relaxed - NSFW
I don't want to sound negative Chris but I'm not keen on this. Obviously the camera with its monumental sensor makes it a shot of the highest technical quality but the lack of visible eyes and unflattering wrinkles on her cheek and neck together with the almost painfully forensic skin detail and...

Llantwit Major Beach
Thank you all. Very kind comments :D The sky was white when I was there and I thought all hope was lost for colour images and I'd be shooting mono images but the power of the K5 sensor saw to that it wasn't the case!

Q7 random shots
Super set. Amazing really what camera makers and sensor designers have done with small cameras in recent years.

Stacks
Not bad at all! I suspect using something like Zerene Stacker might have done a better job at cleaning up the edges - especially around the second image; However one can't complain as Combine ZP is free! How did you isolate it from any background - or is it simply on a piece of plain card/ paper?

Teguise Monos - Image Heavy
I've never been able to ' visualise' in mono (I find the squinting thing hurts my eyes) , but I can appreciate how the toning is revealing with these images .... As all said before it brings out the textures and contrasts, which become more abrupt, sort of graphical blocks beside each other. And you...

A Dozen from The British Touring Car Championship 2015 (and a few support race extras)
Hi Folks. This Year I've pretty much fallen in love with the BTCC, went from accompanying a friend for something new to try with the camera to attending all 10 meetings!. Can't do one a month as is the tradition on this forum but thought I'd like to share some of my favourites from the season. ...

David Trout's pick of 2015
I've selected one image a month to represent my 2015 portfolio. These are among my favourites, not my best work because I never know what my best is. They are a cross section of what I do and were taken in a variety of locations in England, Scotland and Wales. All three of my cameras in current use...

A Recent Portrait Shoot
I love the Cactus equipment, and it integrates well with the Pentax flashes as you can use the V6 on the camera with a Pentax flash on top of that in what's called 'TTL Passthrough Mode'. If you haven't seen it already check out my thread here .... .... I know you were interested in HSS work...
