Perch Rock lighthouse sunset - last night

Thanks for the feedback everyone, the 2nd image is the one I spent most time on and gave most thought to so nice to know it paid off...the other shots I'd scouted before hand having arrived nice and early but it was a quick dash around/setup/shoot to get them all in time I have to sing the praise...

Beached Minkie Whale at Scarborough - ! Gory detail warning !

Do you agree that new 06 Q zoom (15-45mm) certainly has that Pentax pixie dust normally reserved for the better * and limited series lenses. That picture looks 3D to me! John K It looks very nice John. I nearly bought one a while back, but was put off by the discussions of those being returned a...

Macro - with and without a Macro Lens

i thought the distance it triggers at can only vary depending on the distance the focus is set to on the lens, the point you are focusing at is static so going in or out with the camera should not change that i.e if you set the focus distance on the lens to 30cm move in closer than that to the subje...

2013 Singapore Grand Prix

I'm going to have to stop looking at your threads....it's getting difficult cleaning the drool off my keyboard. Love the one of JB, and number 5 ( Di Resta?).

Car Interior

You had obviously spent a lot of time cleaning and preparing the inside of the car. There are a few minor things that catch the eye and they could have been eliminated or tweaked - in fact all except the first are almost very minor. The "Yellow thing" peaking through the steering wheel, t...

Testing Testing 123

Not quite there yet, but getting better. Part of the problem is areas of grass and foliage that are brightly lit, often where also parts of the image are in shadow. The result from a digital sensor is a very unnatural colour in the brighter parts due to over exposure. For whatever reason, digital...

Blue Tit K3 v K5

I too appreciate Alan's efforts. Not easy to judge in small scaled down jpegs. Clearly the big change to a larger sensor will appeal to those doing A2 plus exhibition landscape prints and will allow much higher quality cropping of wildlife etc. It's good that Ricoh moves forward with Pentax mo...

Chantry Bridge and Chapel

Interesting shot. Nice tones. Is that sensor dust and staining in the sky and river? What have you been up to with that camera? :)

Chantry Bridge and Chapel

I think that sensor cleaning would help too but more importantly a little CCW rotation, take the whole exposure down a lot and convert to mono and you have a winner

Chantry Bridge and Chapel

I think the dust could be birds in flight, used the polorising filter to get a long shutter speed to blur the water, usually check sensor weekly for dust. Will try the black and white conversion, cheers fellas.

Chantry Bridge and Chapel

Re. colour image: I know that place - you have chosen an unusual angle to shoot from, and I like that composition. The sky blue gradation looks fine to me (apart from the sensor dust spots) but, if it were mine, I would enhance the saturation of the other colours in the image - in that kind o...

A couple of night shots from the GR

I bought a GR recently, mainly to have a highly portable camera with a good sensor, and partly in the hopes that it would be a good camera for an ongoing project, photographing cities from the air at night. With the K5 I found I was mostly shooting at 24mm for this, so the fixed 28mm lens is a good ...

A7R + FA43

Thanks Damian, I'd love to see some pictures taken with the 31mm at full aperture to see what bokeh it can produce on this camera please! Hi Giorgio, no problems will get a few tomorrow, on one of my other lens (closer to the sensor) wide open (1.4) I've had some vignetting so will be interesting...

Marlow Sunset

It was a great sunset in Sheffield too, the sky was on fire! These shots certainly convey the spectacular sky but I think they are a bit too black in the black bits for me. BTW, What is the large black blob in the tree to the left of your shots? Looks like some dirt on the sensor, but it's puzzl...

The Races

Hi Alan, Great shots. I was just about to post a comment on the visibility of the blood vessels when I saw your last post ! I'm surprised no one has mentioned the 'sensor dust' on Shot #5 - oh, hang about........ Best wishes Nigel

2013 My First Year With a Pentax Camera K-30

Thanks all for the kind comments. As far as my first year with the Pentax K-30 I think it's been a positive one. Coming from an Olympus E-3 I think the K-30 is probably the camera Olympus should have built. It's small enough to be easily portable, feels good in my hands and has the weather sealin...
