Rolls Royce Special Edition

can't even remember if SR was on or off I just pointed at the car and when the camera went "beep" pressed the button all the way in. Kerchunk! job done :) Or was it [job done]? If you check the EXIF data, it will tell you if SR was on or off, and if it was on, whether it had locked or not. I suspect...

Mooning With The Q

So to speak. Having glimpsed a bit of the potential for macro and telephoto of using the Q with K mount lenses I thought I'd give it a go for Moon shots hooked up to the telescope. I thought the crop factor of the small sensor combined with a large depth of field at wide apertures might work well....

Absolutely stunned by my K-5. Night shots hand-held.

The increase in maximum ISO is one of the best developments in sensor technology of late. I'm not bothered about having dozens of megapixels, but usable low light images like these are just great and are the main reason I'd upgrade from my K20D to the K-5. Great set as well, especially the penultim...

One with the Q

This is absolutely superb. When the Q was first released I was very dubious about what it could deliver due to the small image sensor. I have been quite surprised and impressed with what I have seen so far on the forum. It really does seem to me that despite initial worries (by most people le...

Ancient monument

Is it the chapel on the bridge over the River Calder? (I lived in Leeds long ago during my schooldays at Roundhay Grammar School.) If so, I've seen it many times through the windows of a bus or car, but never been there. You have certainly brought out the stonework well. Philip Yes it is the brid...

At sea with a Q- much more than just another compact!

Just back from sailing in Turkish waters where I was without my K5 kit mainly because of EasyJet's luggage limitations. The Q's sensor's competence impressed me, as did the image quality sustained by such a teeny camera, so for everyone's interest I thought I'd put up a couple of examples. They ar...

Introducing Donald

There seems to be a wrinkle or two on your sensor :-) Wonderful!

Is It Natural?

It is interesting David that you refer to the RAW file from the shootout as the 'original'. I made this point in the shootout thread to another poster who also referred to the 'original image', although this was actually referring to your own processed output from the RAW. As I see it, it is misl...

Is It Natural?

Snag is the brain is easily fooled by external lighting temperatures. I imagine that setting the white balance is akin to adding a coloured filter to the outside of the lens so that for example daylight emulsion can be used with flash. If so then the accuracy of the unfiltered sensor will vary (w...

First shots with the Q and 5-15mm

Bob, you did very well not to get snagged on some zoo railings with all that equipment hanging around your neck. I've heard of photographers using 2 identical bodies with different lenses, but perhaps never quite the extreme difference presented with your 2 choices. The Q is perhaps still the sm...

First shots with the Q and 5-15mm

I've been very impressed with the dynamic range the Q offers when I edit the RAW images. I often forget that its a Q RAW image I'm tinkering with and not a K-5 one. Seriously, its that good. Getting detail from blown highlights hasn't been an issue with the Q at all. That is impressive then. This si...

TriggerTrap iPhone App

Edit - just to also ask, as I'm trying to get my head around how it connects and works. Do you plug the jack socket into your iPhone and the sound, light etc sensor is the box on the end of the lead? How do you connect it to the camera or an external flash? I see there is a jack socket on the black ...

Two Door Cinema Club Gig

Yeah, not a lot of light to play with unfortunately- certainly a day when I might have been glad of the K-5 II having the better low light AF, although I don't think the actual low light sensor performance has improved any? K5TW0016 is this one: This was one of the few I actually took with ...

Sample images from my Pentax K10D

The light on 6,7 and 8 is superb, but all the pics are very good.... nice colours! I think the colors are mainly due to FILM LIKE feeling you can get from a CCD sensor and carefully developed RAW files.

K-5 MKii with F 50mm f/1.4

Gary, when you get the time could you provide any other + points of the K5 Mk11 that you discover in relation to the original K5? Thanks Fletcher8 Its all about the focus improvements, a little sensor and the body coating. That's about it but uts enough to make me think how did I manage with t...

On the beach.

I like them. There's a bit of muck on that sensor that needs cleaning off! Cheers David

On the beach.

Thanks for the feedback, Are you talking about the mark in the top right hand corner David and what's the best way to clean the sensor?

Night shots with the K5

I think these are excellent, well done. And something a bit different, which is always nice to see. When I shoot through plane windows they always seem to be well scratched, was it a new aircraft? :-) Using basically the same sensor, I'm not sure that either of the K5 II's would get you any bett...

First Five Days

Its great start, like the angle of views you chosen, and there are definate signs your going to enjoy the create possibilities both in use and post processing. CC wise, shooting under harsh light can be a challenge, and a shooting directly into the sun something to be very wary of. Burned out pa...
