It's time to clean your sensor Mike.

Flight Of Fancy

Which reminds me, I bought an "oh ick!" sensor cleaner and haven't got around to it yet. A job for Saturday morning I fear. When I went into B&H photo in Manhattan and asked for the Pentax sensor cleaner the man behind the counter confidently told me the Pentax didn't make one. I had the pleasu...

Terrible vignetting

I like the picture too. The vignetting doesn't bother me that much. Maybe you could make an asset of it by evening it up? Is that dirt on your sensor too?

Covering Sports with a Pentax

I think sports 'togs prefer the higher continuous frame rates and faster focusing systems. I'm not sure that Pentax lags behind on focusing speed any more since the introduction of the SDM lenses. Frame rate could still be an issue though. Faster & longer lenses are also in a sports photographers...

12-24 composition ?

I like the composition of the first and the third particularly. Do you have a mucky sensor though? On the first one, in the centre about a third of the way down is a blob - could be a bird I guess, but looks to be muck. On the last one slap bang in the centre of the sky there seems to be a strange ...

12-24 composition ?

Noticed a few spots today actually Gwyn, will check it out in the morning to see if I do have a dirty sensor, if so it's an excuse to go to the camera shop as I don't have any cleaning equipment !!

12-24 composition ?

I like the first shot showing the contrast in the vertical and horozontal planes of the two structures but you do need a sensor clean Bob . Ian

12-24 composition ?

MarkD, don't be shy with the opinions. Seems like you have alot more experience than me. Regardless of that, composition is very subjective anyway. Well I've blown a little bit of fluff off the sensor, but it would seem the main culprit was splashes on the front element of the 12-24. There where ...

12-24 composition ?

I think the spots maybe on your filter or lens and not the sensor. if they were on the sensor they would show up in the same spot on every photo

Police Helecopter

Was out in the garden this morning when a police helicopter buzzed over 3 or 4 times so ran in to grab the camera. I took a couple of quick shots but he was flying very low and must of seen me because he hovered overhead for about 60 seconds (seemed a lot longer) and in the 3rd shot you can just ab...

Police Helecopter

Nice shots, especially #3. But yes, you do have dust on your sensor.

Great shots of the boys your clocked, the gunk is not on your sensor it's on your filter or lens but I suspect it's the filter. Jack.

Police Helecopter

the gunk is not on your sensor it's on your filter or lens but I suspect it's the filter. Jack. Don't use filters. On the downside I got the rocket blower out to give the sensor a good blast and managed to get a bit too close. I now have a lovely mark on there which will not come off with m...

Police Helecopter

Great shots of the boys your clocked, the gunk is not on your sensor it's on your filter or lens but I suspect it's the filter. Jack. IMO you couldn't possibly see a mark on the filter or lens in these circumstances

With regards to the mark on the pic and whether it is on sensor or on lens I have no technical understanding about these matters, but I had a very similar mark on a few pictures. They only showed up when using one lens, though not in all picures. After a clean of that lens I have so far not noticed ...

On the path to Macros

That's very good Amin. Another advantage with the black background and stacked shots is that any dust on the sensor (which gets magnified) shouldn't show up. Helicon Focus can map the dust and remove it, see . It's a pity that Pentax cameras can't take the shots automatically like Canon can ...

First try on infrared

I thought Infrared was something unique to B&W photography? I know the effect can be re-produced on digital but where does the colour come into it? Lets have an explanation Stefan:D PS, nice effect though. The problem with the K10D is that it is hardly sensitive to IR so that even with an IR pas...

My 55-300 mm again

Not going to earn me browny points due to the lack of sharpness, but still would appreciate your views on these few ones I took. My limitations on these ones were mainly a double glazing patio door which desperately needs to be cleaned , handheld and against the light. Oh and the distance, I ...

First photo submission.

Over the years I have had constructive negative comments which have helped tremendously. Whilst I joined the Pentax User website back in 2005 I am to all intents and purposes a new member as I have only started contributing in the last couple of weeks. Since then I've had such comments in my galle...

Last Concord into Cardiff

Aviation is very different then any other brand I believe, the best doesn't always win but that's counts for every type of branch. Do you know that KLM lease their aircrafts from KLM, I don't know why preciesly but it seems they are saving money by it. The Tenerife air disaster never should have...
