Took the K-7 out to the zoo on Sunday!

All these are taken at 400 ISO with the DA*60-250mm at F6.3 with pre-production firmware believed to be 0.35 (camera menu shows firmware to be 0.00!) in JPEG no extra PP except cropping.

Wow. Maybe I can abandon RAW if that's what a JPEG can do.

Were you on auto metering and focussing? (And do I now need to add that lens to my bag?

Impressed with the overall colour and detail of both the body and the lens.

Also impressed with the first shot, that is fantastic and shows the bird at his best.

Can't get much EXIF up on the shots can you give me any idea of the distance and lens settings? Thanks.

More lens than body I feel. Although any improvement in the sensor is welcome!

The DA*60-250 is a staggering performer.

Decent noise at 400! Perhaps a very slight improvement on the K20D from what I've seen. Now I want to see ISO 1600...

Thanks for the comments guys!

Think Richard is right in that it is probably more the lens than the camera that is producing the results, But obviously the K-7 was used as I was giving it a run out!

Shot at F6.3, 400 ISO, auto everything I think, metering in matrix mode, with focussing via selected point, most probably centred at the time. They are as shot i.e. straight out of camera JPEG, not done any RAW yet, with the Bright settings in the camera played with a bit, I think I boosted saturation and sharpness settings.

The in flight shot was about 30ish feet away and is a large crop, the others were around 4 feet away all at 250mm I think. As it is a pre-production camera I was told that the EXIF had been disabled, but the basics do seem to be intact.

Will be doing a high ISO comparison soon, but til then, this was shot the other night, F8, 0.5 Sec, 3200 ISO and hand held!

Might have to slow this lark down a bit, I'm absolutely knackered, just fell asleep watching the football, and I never do that, must be all the excitement!

Oh yeah, as of yet, I've not taken it off of Auto white balance!

Although still a camera of pre-production, these photos are very good.
I really enjoyed the outcome of lens DA* 60/250 .
Thanks !

Well thanks a lot!

Due to the your photographs and people's praise I now find myself another £900 out of pocket as I had to buy the lens too!

Are you and SRS in cahoots?

If I get to keep the K-7, then yes I am!

Actually, I am anyway, always keen to 'big up' the decent suppliers!

Just arrived. Thanks to the ridiculously low price and fast service of SRS along with your annoyingly good photographs I will now have to go out and take some photographs this evening rather than watching the Simpsons!

(But my oh my, it is impressive! Are there tiny elves inside to do the focussing?)
