new model speculation
here is one other reason to ditch the pentaprism and mirror box... say you're samsung, and you have a ff sensor, and Pentax k mounts... you take pentax sr system, and mount the whole sr and sensor on a rail that you can move forwards and back in the space that used to be occupied by the mirror... ...

new model speculation
well the 10 or so mm difference only matters if there is a new line of lenses to push on the consumer.... Indeed but think about the possibilities. Just look at the normal 4/3th mount. 14-35mm f/2.0 35-100mm f/2.0 90-250mm f/2.8 Those are lenses you most likely will never see on an 135format m...

FF & APS-C sensor & lens comparison
video shows the difference when a lens is used on a full frame camera, then an APS-C cropped sensor camera. To me, the difference is quite startling when you actually see it in the flesh, as it were. Beware: Canon kit is used for this demonstration, but I don't hold that against them.

FF & APS-C sensor & lens comparison
The LensBaby on the 5D is quite an interesting look... Hopefully they will do a follow-up where they compare the equivalent focal lengths so you can see how FF compares to APS without the zooming effect.

FF & APS-C sensor & lens comparison
Thanks Mannesty - interesting link. Hopefully Pentax will actually bring out a FF sensor in due course so we can reap the benefits.

FF & APS-C sensor & lens comparison
We've always known that on Pentax the difference is 50% Not a very good demo because he's made the frame sizes the same. It would cause problems with say 400mm lenses you would need to buy a 600mm lens to get the same frame on FF as APS-C. Then if you used the 600mm lens on APS-C you fill...

FF & APS-C sensor & lens comparison
Not a very good demo because he's made the frame sizes the same. And why wouldn't he make the frames the same size? He's not showing the difference in sensor size actually, he's demonstrating the effect of one lens on the two systems. This is a video presentation so no need to use different sized...

FF & APS-C sensor & lens comparison
There is a site that's been posted on here that shows the relative sizes of each sensor. What the video doesn't show is that his head would be the same size on both sensors, there would be more of the space surrounding him on full frame.

Whilst quite technical this site has some useful information on it about FF v crop sensors

FF & APS-C sensor & lens comparison
That site is dated 2005, so it is a bit out of date now.

Canon make terrific kit, no matter what anyone here says. They can teach Pentax plenty about autofocus performance and ergonomics...

FF & APS-C sensor & lens comparison
That site is dated 2005, so it is a bit out of date now. I wasn't aware that the laws of Physics had changed in the last 5 years. The op video is a nice graphical representation of the crop factor in effect, of course you'd just use wider lenses on the 7d to achieve your intended coverage. ...

FF & APS-C sensor & lens comparison
I wasn't aware that the laws of Physics had changed in the last 5 years. The laws of Physics as we know them are constantly changing as our understanding of the Universe expands, but what I meant was in relation to how this all affects digital cameras has changed because sensors have considerably ch...

FF & APS-C sensor & lens comparison
That page is heavily maths based though & they seem to not make any IQ claims one way or the other so I'd still deem it relevant (if a litle tough reading!) I take your point though, dated conclusions on FF vs APS-C would need to be looked at closely if making claims one way or the other as senso...

Newbie question about raw format
Nothing wrong with your camera, and it's a good job you were shooting raw, because now you can change the white balance to whatever you like. Give it a go, edit a raw image that has the wrong white balance and change it to what it should have been. You'll see what I mean. The RAW image is just...

How often do you clean your contacts?
I got sooooo frustrated with my K20D + DA* 16-50mm lens last night. I nearly launched the thing and promised to go to the nearest Canon/Nikon dealer as soon as I could. I was shooting the start of the 'Moors and Christians' fiesta in Murcia, Spain. Amidst other 'togs with a range of kit including...

How often do you clean your contacts?
Only when you suspect a problem - For me. I think seals or not you will always have atmospheric on metal mounts. In turn this could be dragged onto contacts as you mount and dismount your lenses. I don't believe regular cleaning is a good idea though as a film of oxidisation acts as a barrier to pre...

How often do you clean your contacts?
Peter, I'm not clear whether, after your treatment of the contacts, if the DA* focussing improved. Impossible to say yet David. My issue was with the 16-50mm, I don't recall the same thing happening with my 50-135mm and no unfamiliar noises occured wither. At home in a test environment after clea...
