Zoom lenses are the work of the Devil.
I've heard that phrase "coatings not designed for digital" I'm baffled too. I've never heard this phrase before. Yes the lens will have a larger image circle to account for 35mm, but that's a feature due to the internal construction of the lens - not the lens coating itself????? The 'digital coatin...

Competition Topics
I`m a bit wary of this topic as I consider any photographic meddling - other than that which John has just mentioned - to be altering beyond the true image taken. Tony I totally agree with Tony. I don't own a copy of Photoshop. Apart from aforementioned tweaks, everything I have is 'straight ou...

The Roger Hicks Syndrome
I think Leica would dispute your assertion but I'm in no position to do so as my lottery numbers keep failing to come up :) I am not as technically knowledgeable as you John as is obvious but I thought that Kodak had designed the configuration of the sensor in the M9 to accommodate your pint abou...

K7 for nothing
K-7, kit lens and macro arrived .. looks unused (boxes look like they have been shipped from Afghanistan though) Now on charge ... bet it doesn't work when battery full (gloomy bit). Not bad for £345 .. thanks for the heads up gregmoll (and sorry you couldn't get one). Mike, don't use a rocket...

K7 for nothing
Mike, don't use a rocket blower to clean the sensor on this one . . . I still see that every time I process a macro shot taken at around f12. Think I well and truly learned my lesson there

"Why Pentax and not Nikon?"
Had a rather interesting one from a Nikon user today, which I wasn't able to answer. Hopefully someone here can! Does Pentax SR cope with tracking? Apparently the Nikon VR has a tracking mode, I've yet to try tracking shots with my K-m so obviously I'm not sure if this is something that Pentax ge...

Virus
As most of the "worms" were attached to your browser history they will have been adware, which although a nuisance are not malicious in themselves. They basically monitor your browsing history so you can be targeted with ads, normally pop-ups which are easy to block. I would suspect you only had one...

Virus
I find it incredible that they had 700 viruses...perhaps the computer experts amongst us could make some comments as to whether that is possible or just faulty reporting by whatever AV software they are using? Yes, this is quite possible - BUT - more likely it is a much lesser number of viruses that...

Machine gunning captured animals
I have seen something similar - a chap with a Nikon D2 I think (big pro looking camera but a bit older so with a smaller MP sensor) - was just holding down the shutter on auto and generally pointing it at the holes in the wire fence to get a shot of a tiger... most of the time wasn't even looking th...

iPhone or Google Nexus?
Btw what makes the iPhone 4 so much better then the 3G since you seem to be jumping to get one? My contract only ran out a recently so I never had a 3GS, Fiona has one though and the speed difference is quite noticeable, so for me, I've missed a generation, and the new one is better in every way. ...

iPhone or Google Nexus?
I wonder what the 3.85 focal length means? I'm a bit confused, what else could it mean but focal length Yes you are. Surely it refers to penis size, or the average number of bedrooms in a UK home, or perhaps the number of days Shaky can go without babbling incoherently about his hatred of Apple. The...

iPhone or Google Nexus?
Wonder what the crop factor of the sensor is :D Here you go Tim 7,64 is the magic number. So, the lens is a 3.85 mm f/2.8 lens. This corresponds to 35mm film camera equivalent lens of 29.4mm f/21.4.

Any Interest
The second hand market has dropped loads for Pentax. I don't think that's particularly true to be honest .. yes people go but others are buying into Pentax .. the K-7 and especially the K-x seemed to have really given the brand a bit of a boost. Good glass (I hate that saying) will always hold ...

OMG - they hit the floor
I'd say it was the body that had suffered in the impact, the sensor not being flush in the mount anymore. Please send with £100 for repair cost to Spivvy Blighter c/o PO box 28799835496852135 Nigeria.....:lol::lol: just goes to show how tough Pentax cameras are.

Dilemma!
K-7 and buy a K-x out there. My next body was going to be an Alpha 850 (for all the wrong reasons). All of my Minolta glass is FF yet I love my Maxum 7D (same sensor as istD). That suggestion Mike, is tempting????? Down side is that I have to buy a house, car and microwave first... Regards

Hello again
K5 as a K7-like body with the Kx sensor is the most consistent one (it often merges with rumours of a new 'midrange' body between the Kx and K7 as the K100D was between the Km and K10D). Others include Stefan's insistence that the DA*30 f2 from the 2-years-ago lens roadmap will be announced at Photo...

Can or will a canon or Nikon lens fit pentax??
Canon won't fit at all because the mount opening is bigger and the distance from the mount to the sensor is shorter. The thing you could do is buy a Canon camera and use an adapter to use Pentax lenses that would work. Those two lenses might sell quite well on eBay so you could do that and get you...

Anybody know what this is?
Slave flash firing thingy! Plug your external flash into it using a cable, and when you fire your main/on-board flash this will trigger the external flash via it's in-built photo sensor. From the days when flash was connected via cable or hot-shoe.
