Pentax MX - Flash Unit - Looking for assistance to find a flash
John, You might want to look over here: That should give you everything you need to know. All I can say is that the AF360FGZ has been absolutely brilliant for me. Solidly made (which was not always the case with Pentax flashes I fear), feature loaded, and powerful. It has a built in slav...

Honeywell Pentax ES
I was wondering whether I could use lenses from an old but damaged Honeywell Pentax ES. I am just guessing that that is the camera type, because it looks like what I found in my search (http://whitemetal.com/pentax/es_1/es_1_info.htm) but has a silver top to it. Thanks I had a wonderful ES. Sent...

Cleaning Pentax ME
A standard blower brush available from any photo store should do the trick.

MZ5n: Cleaning behind focus screen
If you did manage to do this and the replacement was even a fraction out, you would focus incorrectly ever afterwards, so it's not a good idea. Dirt in the viewfinder system will not affect the image on the film, but you could send the camera for professional cleaning if you wished. I'd live with...

MZ5n: Cleaning behind focus screen
Thanks for the reply John. I know it wont affect the image, its just that there appears to quite a lot of debris in there. I'm going to arrange a professional service for this body. Again many thanks.

MZ-S or *IST D
Hello there. I am about to upgrade to a new camera. Right now I have a Pentax ZX-7. I am trying to decide whether to purchase a MZ-S now or to wait for a new Pentax digital to come out at the end of the year that should be an improvement over the *IST D. I have a Benq film scanner but am thinkin...

MZ-S or *IST D
I don't know what you mean by "sensor size improves". If you are hoping it will get bigger, then you are in for a disappointment. Pentax are now wedded to the APS-sized sensor, and are producing new lenses for it which will not fill a 35mm frame. As sensor resolution increases, APS-sized sensor...

ME SUPER Mirror and view finder cleaning
Hi, The best thing tp clean the back of the viewfinder where you look through is a cotton bud. I wouldn't try to clean the mirror. Any dust on it will not affect the photos and it is easy to damage it or put it out of alignment and then you won't be able to focus properly. If there is just loose du...

which pentax-body for manual and autofocus lenses?
In the end, we can always process the films ourselves - in monochrome this may well be the route of choice anyway. I don't think film is anywhere near dead yet, and in 20 years time I'm sure will still be available for those who want it. Perhaps the drop in digital sensor will have arrived ny th...

How to stop fungus on lens?
I'm not sure that you can actually cure this problem, you'd most probably have to seek the advice of a professional lens cleaner and hope that the fungus hasn't damaged the lens' coating beyond economical repair. Prevention is by far the best option, I always keep my equipment in a well ventilated ...

Motordrive vs winder and other questions
The LX required a circular polarising filter for the metering to work correctly and it could be true of most SLRs which meter off the film plane. For the meter to work before the mirror is lifted light passes through a half silvered section of the mirror via a second small mirror to the light senso...

What does the Lens lettering mean, (+ a SFXn lens question)
If you are looking for something really special then a Tokina 28-70mm AF f2.6-2.8 is a great idea or the more expencive 28-80mm AF f2.8 also the Sigma 28-70mm EX 2.8 lens is great. But these lenses are quite expencive. If you would be willing to fork out the money for one of these then they will inc...

good used manual camera on ebay?
When it comes to digital quality, an awful lot of rubbish is being talked by an awful lot of people. Pixels vary in quality. The sensor on a 6MP SLR is much larger than the sensor on an 8MP P&S (point and shoot) camera like the Sony, and therefore produces much less noise, and hence the qual...

SP 1000, need some information
The SP1000 is basically a Spotmatic without the self timer. It was one of the last screw thread Pentaxes to be available, being phased out in favour of the bayonet mount K1000. I presume you jave tried a new battery of the correct type? You would need a Wein 1.35v cell, available from Jessops and...
