Sensible M42 metered body to use today?
I have an SP1000 and it does seem nice. I haven't finished the first roll through it yet so no results so far. I hadn't realised that it would stop the lens down when metering, which makes it difficult to use. With the Tak 35mm f/3.5 it's almost impossible to focus.

Does the P30 have foam light seals?
The only light seal on my P30T is around the ISO-viewing window on the back. Don't know if the P30 is the same, though. Al

Does the P30 have foam light seals?
My P30 has seals across the top, bottom and right hand side of the back (inset into the groove the door closes against) and the ISO window.

SP1000 mirror problem
Hi All, I finally got round to running a film through my recently acquired SP1000 (it was queued up behind an S1a & K1000). There appears to be an intermittent problem with the mirror (I think) causing the shutter not to fire. With the meter switch up when I hit the shutter release, the mirror...

SP1000 mirror problem
Wierd, but having swapped a couple of lenses and back it now seems to be working. Does anybody know if all the Spotmatics are compatible with the SMC 50mm f/1.4 lens?

Pentax KX
Why a KX? They're not a common body, although I'm told they are nice. If you just want to play with film then a ME or ME super would meet your needs at a reasonable price. Auto focus bodies, well the MZ6 is my favourite. Have a browse through my site for my views, and listen to what other...

Pentax KX
The best manual focus grip I've used is one of the Super-A/Program-A/P50 type with the moulded thumb rest on the back (and fabulous with the Motordrive-A). The P30N or T are good cameras and many ways more appealing today than the M series (younger, program mode, AE lock and focussing screens better...

Pentax KX
I got my ME Super today, its gorgeous :) ASA Dial feels slightly gritty but I can't complain for the price at all. Can anyone recommend me some film? Thinking of getting some Kodak Ultra 400 or Gold 200 since I can pick up in some local shops. Also whats this about light seals? How do I know i...

Pentax KX
The KX was my first Pentax body and remains my favorite. It is an excellent manual focus, manual exposure camera with full-information viewfinder, and it's not too small like the MX. Chris

Meter on MG - Intermittent over-exposure warning...
Every now and then the meter on my MG tells me I'm massively overexposing, stopping down the aperture has no effect on it... Put the cap back on, leave it for a few mins and everything returns to normal working order... Is this a battery warning or do I possibly have some kind of other intermi...

Bought on a Whim
Thanks bobmartin, but loooking for a manual focus body. Unfortunately I'm not very keen on the pre-MZ series AF bodies. Do appreciate the thought though!

Pentax point and shoot
Some years ago I had a Pentax Espio 928. It was a brilliant little camera, with precise auto focus and a very sharp zoom lens. Bjørn

Restored Super A
I was offered a couple of Super A cameras and declined to buy them as they were both basically shot and finished, not really worth repair. However, I decided when I was asked to throw them away to take a chance and get a quote for the repair of the better one and Asahi Photo did the job efficient...

Restored Super A
What I have learned is something I either never knew of had forgotten. The Super A fires on 1/1000 sec for three frames when film is loaded and the exposure modes only work after that. Yes, the Super A was my first camera - I remember that. I found that if I was careful, I could get an extra shot (...

Restored Super A
The Super-A was my first Pentax SLR too and I shot most of my family snaps with it. Sadly it died and couldn't be repaired. I recently found one with a 'Digital Data M' back on it in need of some TLC. Having replaced the light seals, it's working fine, though it could probably use a lube and calibra...

Pentax MV1
You can't replace the focus screen, not without stripping the top of the camera down. If you can still focus with the damage to the screen why worry? I have several cameras in my collection with dirty/scratched screens, after all the image isn't affected.

SF7 and ES bodies. Thoughts?
I've have one of each (in fact I have a second ES I'll be selling) and they are so different it is difficult to compare really. The ES is a lovely, solid, metal bodied M42 camera. It doesn't have a self-timer (you'll have to find an ESII for that) and although there are manual shutter speeds on ...

SF7 and ES bodies. Thoughts?
Thanks for that Pentaxophile, I will give that consideration. Ultimately, I did'nt get another K-mount lens, as I am holding back, probably for an MZ-S if any appear at the right price...... However, I did get the Spotmatic F and the 35mm F3.5 Yes I probably paid more than fleabay, but on the o...
