Pentax MX focusing tips
The difficulty arises when all three methods give you different focus points, but you won't be far out. That what I have been finding that if I focus until I think it is in focus is not always the same as when the split image is correct.

Right Angle Finder K
Does anyone know if the Ashia Pentax Right Angle Finder K will fit on the Pentax K10 D or the Pentax K 20 D? Hi Rees, if you look at this page : http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp/misc/focus/index.html It seems to indicate that it won't. If it fits an M body it should be OK because they are the sam...

Right Angle Finder K
A while back I purchased a Seagull Right Angle Finder and it came with 4-5 fittings one of which fitted my K10D. I purchased it from SRB-Griturn. Hope that helps. It cost £60. See Cheers John 8)

Pentax Z1
Film was fantastic at the time, I used it for 22 years. I do miss the time in the darkroom and the enlarging and printing....but now that's it. When the Pentax *ist D came out, I bought it straight away. I sold both my film cameras and that was it. I had a weak moment last year when I almos...

Pentax Z1
Well I have never stopped using film as well so there isn't a "going back" to it. I am planning to build a darkroom of my own with all that lovely second hand kit that is knocking around!

Pentax Z1
To recover the lost joys of photography I have moved back to film this year. Have just acquired a Pentax ME Super to compliment my MG and MZ-M. I think the 'Super' is well named! Thirty six beautiful glossy 7"x5" pics for £5.99 D&P!

Pentax Z1
Stay away from the MZ-5n, it appears they have an inherent fault, I have had 2 of them and the mirror motor has failed on both. Apparently the small plastic gear which drives the mirror breaks. It can be repaired by replacing the motor with a brass gear attached, but at 80quid (AU$170) its ...

[quote:3496ace15f="womble"]Off topic but... [quote:3496ace15f="Mannesty"]I can't think of a good reason to use film anymore. You are right, but: a) I find it fun and enjoy using film. b) Digital makes me lazy, film makes me think. c) The MX and LX are such lovely pieces of equipment I get pl...

Trustworthy service for Pentax MX
Just registered today thinking that maybe some of you may recommend trustworthy service for my old MX. Bought it in spotless state from ebay seller in the US and have enjoyed it a lot since. Until that unfortunate day when, thanks to my friend, it accidentally hit the stone floor. There is not mu...

Jessops SV-8 Slide Viewer & Boots Slides
I'm not sure if this is in the right forum but here goes. I bought a jessops SV-8 slide viewer 2 weeks ago and have been waiting with baited breath for my first set of slides to come back from my new MX. I only bought the cheapest processed paid slides I could get which were the boots own bran...

Jessops SV-8 Slide Viewer & Boots Slides
The film has nothing to do with it - you could send the same film to 10 different labs and get your results back in 10 different types of mounts, depending on what each lab chooses to use. Any chance of a pic of the viewer showing the slide slot?

Jessops SV-8 Slide Viewer & Boots Slides
Don't I feel the numpty now. I was just about to take a pic of the viewer and I noticed a slot on the back which the slides fit into. It also has 2 slots of the sides one either side which I thought were the ones to put the slides in. Thanks Hefty Jason

MX wind on
If it happens all the time it could be that you have not loaded the film correctly into the "magic needles" If only sometimes then it is a fault in the winder mechanism. Sounds like it would then need repair. You must make sure you are not pressing the release button on the camera base while y...

I have just bought a Pentax MG
The MGs tend to go for around £30. In my opinion, even an F2 lens in good condition is worth £30 so you still got a free camera. As you say, it is Av only but you can change the exposure by playing with the ISO. I had a couple of these. The usual problem is with the mirror locking up and refus...

I have just bought a Pentax MG
I have had one for about twenty years. The exposure compensation on the MG works as follows: Pull and lift the rewind knob gently to the stop. This will reveal the exposure compensation dial underneath. Do not pull further or the camera back will open. Lift and move the ASA setting dial to the r...
