there's something about opening a packet of photos fresh from the lab which we have lost with Digital. Still, I wouldn't trade all the advantages of my K10D for that, if I want that feeling I still have an ME-F and many rolls of film....
you don't have to be mad to post here
but it does help
but it does help

Would anyone be interested in my mint Z1 with 28-80 lens if I put it on the 'for sale' thread?

Stay away from the MZ-5n, it appears they have an inherent fault, I have had 2 of them and the mirror motor has failed on both
That must be what happened to mine? it just makes a whining noise when I press the shutter.Stay away from the MZ-5n, it appears they have an inherent fault, I have had 2 of them and the mirror motor has failed on both

a Z1 + 28-80 for the very cheap price of £49
Sad but an ideal opportunity for collectors, I've thought about it myself on several occasions but wonder what I'd do with them all

Off topic but...
a) I find it fun and enjoy using film.
b) Digital makes me lazy, film makes me think.
c) The MX and LX are such lovely pieces of equipment I get pleasure just from the use of them.
None of these reasons are compelling enough that I would argue for film over digital, after all I take 100x more digital photos than film, but they are enough that I keep taking a few.
Me too, maybe it's the MX & LX they just make you want to use them. Film was good enough for me for 30 years so I still like to take slides on holiday and at Christmas. The MX or LX in their ERC cases make a nice compact holiday camera with a 50mm lens.

I enjoy using film when the subject isn't moving. I am interested in med format. I think med format produces great results.

Apparently the small plastic gear which drives the mirror breaks. It can be repaired by replacing the motor with a brass gear attached, but at 80quid (AU$170) its not viable IMO. I sold them both for parts or repair and picked up an MZ-6 for 40quid. Better camera anyway I believe.
I had the same problem with my MZ5N and had it repaired - it is still living, but dont know what to do with it. However, I shall always love my Z1 and will never part with it for a pittance. I so loved that camera!Stay away from the MZ-5n, it appears they have an inherent fault, I have had 2 of them and the mirror motor has failed on both.

The only way I shall go back to film again to play, is a medium format Hassleblad ...one day soon I hope!

Even though I have the K20D, and used the K10D exclusively in Namibia (the Z-1 stopped working on Day 1 ) I still like putting film through the Z-1, Z-1p, MZ-S and the Mamiya 645...
I still think the sight of a nice Velvia slide beats a screen shot anyday...
And theż're immune from HDD failures
