Macro lenses over 100mm for K5.

The Tamron 90mm Di works well with the Tamron 1.4x TC giving 135mm and losing 1 stop of light, you retain the minimum focus distence. From experience the Tamron 70-300 LD Di zoom does a cracking job but only gives 1:2 magnification and probably never reaches the IQ of the 90mm, it allows you more di...

Hi from North Wales

Oh I love those web sites. It has been something I have been trying to do for a long time. I have been playing with Java Script and CSS to try to develop a site. I try to do everything for free and I could not find a way to tell a story with pictures. What I wanted was at least a pair of pictures...

Evening all.

Thank you Dave. Will keep an eye on the meeting threads. Work and family time meant no-show for me on this occasion. I live close to the moor and walk to work in Burley-in-Wharfedale when I can via White Wells, across the top of the moor around the back of the Cow and Calf. The cotton grass...

Hi Jon, great to see another member from overseas, welcome to the site. Why not just use the K-5 in fully manual mode - then it will be a fully manual DSLR!! You always have the luxury of switching back to an auto mode if you wish - so you have the best of both worlds. Best wishes David

Thanks! Are we overseas? I thought they were overseas? :-) I do use it fully manually - all my lenses are old K and M. I had a kit lens 18-55 - but didnīt use it much, so sold it with the *ist DL in order to shift that. Noone would buy that without a lens.... It takes a little while to g...

Hello from Shafton, Yorkshire

Afternoon All, I live in Yorkshire but hail from Gateshead originally. I enjoy travel photography, mainly cityscapes, landscapes, and anything that includes the sea. I started with a Ricoh KR10 back in the late 70's and only switched to digital 7 years ago. I plugged away with an Olympus e...

There is a vast catalogue going back decades to choose from. Are you more interested in new or old lenses, does auto focus matter, does auto metering matter? To what extent is budget a factor? And hi.

First post. Upgrading

Hi all, thanks for the welcome and the replies. I will try and reply to you all at once. I have looked at the K-r as well, and my reading of the discussions is that the K-r has the better sensor, but the K20d is ergonomically better, and better built. For me photography is about the process, and ...
