My "A" team + a "K"

One for sale on Ebay. Item: 190330816718 Gee, these must be extremely rare! bb2 Thats a crazy price  If it sells for that price, I will run naked over the Harbour Bridge and back again. Edit: I just noticed you have one also, Where did you get it and what did you pay for it, if you ...

SMC Pentax-M 1:4 50mm Macro

I think the main problem with modern lenses is (indirectly) auto focus. The older manual focus lenses had a much nicer focussing feel as the manufacturers were able to damp them with thick grease or similar. AF lenses need to move very freely to avoid over-stressing the motor. I know I wouldn't w...

Pentax family

Started to dig out my Pentax kit. Not included here is the full 110 system or the TR power pack for the flash. Some of this stuff goes back to 1976. Lenses that are not shown are Vivitar Series 1's and some older Sigma's. It may be time to use some of it.. Regards

Pentax 2000/13.5 Reflex

Hi Clarky, That is my next task - to post some imgages from this lens. Just waiting to the opportunity to get out in some good weather and use it! With a minimum focus of 20m, it is a bit big for taking photos in my back garden:oops:

Restoring an Ever-Ready Case

I only have the "blimp" for my MX. That case has MX stamped in the faux leather on the back. Not sure if a normal MX case would have the same. The LX case has LX stamped on the bottom. K.

Restoring an Ever-Ready Case

While shoe polish does the trick I find it's a bit messy to work with. I'd recommend saddle soap (available from tackle suppliers) which brings leather back to life, leaves less crud on your hands / work surfaces and has a nice soapy smell too. :)

Restoring an Ever-Ready Case

I've just given it a going-over with saddle soap to finish off, after finding an old can in the back of a cupboard - only problem is that I don't think it can turn the grey scuffed bits black? It has cleaned off the loose shoe polish residue though. I'm not so sure about my opinion that this isn...

My three Exes

I finally got my first film back from the KX. This is the photo I was taking using the set up in image 2 above. Not sure it was worth the effort! K.

A KM with a surprise

Adventures in archaeology continue - I found the following label in the back of the ERC: "By Appointment...Wallace Heaton Ltd, London." A bit of rummaging finds that WH were taken over by Dixons in 1972, so I think what I have here is someone's mid '70s decision to upgrade their camera but ke...

A KM with a surprise

Back to the KM - does anyone know what sort of strap the K series were supplied with? Leather, like the earlier M42 bodies, or a webbing one with chrome buckles as supplied with the M series bodies?

S-M-C Takumar 28mm f/3.5

That wouldn't be a Lubitel 166U (or variant thereof) would it Kris? I've got one of those complete with the original Russian documentation, thankfully English instructions were added by the importers! A very odd piece of kit, I think I ran about two rolls of film through it before getting bored a...

A Pentax ES

That's a useful feature of the Manfrotto tripod, to be able to slide the extension up and then out to the side. Good for macros too! The cable release brings back memories...

SMC Pentax 120mm f2.8

These do not seem common - in the month or so since I bought mine I haven't even found a completed auction listing. I guess they were a bit too close to the 135mm in field of view to sell especially well. There was an M version with a built in hood too, this is the original K series: Which c...

Ahhh! That explains it. I thought it was down to me struggling to see the in focus indicator in strong daylight!

TEST Takumar 58/2 v Super Tak 50/1.4 v M50/1.4 v FA43/1.9

It's been a while since I posted up some test results, but the arrival of a couple of new lenses here at chez hefty1 has given me the impetus to actually do one again. As before, the tests are completely subjective so if you have any complaints about procedures then please use the new style complain...

TEST Takumar 58/2 v Super Tak 50/1.4 v M50/1.4 v FA43/1.9

Glad you all like it! :) If you wanted to add the DA*55 to it, you can always borrow mine! Thanks for the offer but I think one test every couple of years is quite enough. I'm going back to just shooting pretty pictures for a while now...
