The Asahi Optical Historical Club has lots of stuff on earlier cameras than Bojidar, but not as comprehensive as he is for k-mount. The best book, apparently, is "The Ultimate Asahi Pentax Screwmount Guide" but that now sells second hand for more than £400...

There is also the Asahi Pentax Manual (Morgan Publishing, 1971) which is a huge loose leaf ring binder affair that covers all the bodies and lenses up to that time in great detail.
I had no idea my pristine copy of the Screwmount Guide might be worth £400!!!

I was looking for one on Abebooks, Alibris etc. and was a bit taken aback at the price. If they reprint it I guess the price would collapse, but at the moment it is as rare as hens teeth!

After looking around a little more I'm actually considering an SV rather than a Spotmatic. I realise the SV doesn't have a light meter but the years of production are exactly the same as those for the lens, and the idea of either using a handheld meter (which I have, although it could do with calibrating as it seems to underexpose) or the clip-on meter is very appealing. Would the case fit the camera minus meter?
If you're going for a tourist-scaring retro camera then it really needs to have a gigantic lump of dials and gauges on the top!

You want the AOHC website.Is there a site equivalent to Dimitrov's K mount site for the screw mount gear? I have looked but I couldn't seem to find one with things like years of production. Definitely keen to work out what bodies with a built-in meter would have been around 1962-64 (I know it would have been built-in as the earlier cases have a lump on top to accommodate the clip-on meter).
There were no Pentax bodies with a built-in meter before the Spotmatic (July 1964).

Back to the KM - does anyone know what sort of strap the K series were supplied with? Leather, like the earlier M42 bodies, or a webbing one with chrome buckles as supplied with the M series bodies?

So you will be looking for a Spotmatic or, from 1970-ish, Spotmatic II and that's your lot in Pentax TTL metering screw-thread cameras! Purists will mention the SP500 and SP1000, but those came much later and don't fit you time requirement.
