All the "M" Well almost (before the hammer falls)

The Super A requires batteries to operate though and I really wanted a camera that offered fully mechanical operation. I know the ME Super offers a halfway-house approach which I'd probably find acceptable but the MX really does seem ideal on paper. I think John's now swayed me firmly back into it...

All the "M" Well almost (before the hammer falls)

I don't think this battery business is really relevant. It's not like a DSLR, which consumes lots of big, heavy, hungry, batteries. You put a battery in the Super A and it will last for a year, maybe three. And a spare is smaller and lighter than a 2p piece, so it's not a problem to carry a lifet...

All the "M" Well almost (before the hammer falls)

All the other "M" series have more limited features so I'd avoid them. The MEF looks a mess and the focus assist isn't up to much so I wouldn't bother with that, I had a lovely mint one and only got about £20 when I sold it. I argue that as a users camera this makes the ME-F the very bes...

One of only 50...

In 1988 Vivitar produced a special version of its 28-105 and 70-210 Series 1 lenses. My research shows these to be version 4 of the Series 1 lens and only 50 were ever made in Pentax fit. I have herd that they also made 50 in Canon fit and 50 in Nikon fit, but haven't been able to verify this. ...

My Bodies

Hi, a good collection of cameras. We seem to have followed the same road, Pentax, Contax and then back to pentax. Didnt keep any old Pentax stuff but still have Contax 139 with acessories. Was interesting to see your photo of Contax as mine ended up in same condition i.e. leather on body wearing awa...

Keeping it in the family

My mum was a member of the Pentax Club back in the mid 80s. In fact, she lent me the first ever SLR I used. This is part of her collection - what do you think is worth keeping, worth selling and worthless? From left to right, top to bottom: Waist level finder (FF1) for LX; LX; MV, right a...

Keeping it in the family

Yep, that's about the sort of price I kept coming up with when I was looking for one - that's why I ended up buying a Seagull one instead. I reckon the mirror adaptor could fetch even more but it's tricky to say as I've never seen (a genuine Pentax) one for sale. I'd probably be tempted to keep bo...

Keeping it in the family

Personally I would get a new stairs carpet, that one is way too distracting for close ups:D Seriously though, just keep the lot and when your Mums gone it'll help remind you of her and bring back some fond memories, plus it'll be fun to play with occasionally, and if she's passed allready then sh...

Keeping it in the family

The expensive refconvertor is well worth keeping. The one I have is stamped M but I think it's the same as the A. They only ever made 2 types, the other being for the Spotmatic. Sadly the rubber eyecup seems to be missing and you really need that to stop stray/distracting light. Being able to switch...

Keeping it in the family

I just remembered reading that from Bojidar's , the relevant bit is at the bottom of the page. I guessed the M-version would be fine on the K10D as the viewfinder image is tiny compared to film cameras. Best wishes, Kris.

Keeping it in the family

Just had a look at and you can see what they have done.... just made the hole a bit bigger with a special Asahi file  The Super A lets some light into the viewfinder from the lens side and the circle that I can see must be the circular part of the hole on the M model. This mod wasn't needed t...

Our tripod collection!

Following on from a thread a few weeks back entitled 'what tripod?' I've finally got round to taking some photos of our collection! The good thing is, nothing is going to waste because as I upgrade, Fiona is inheriting the older ones! We had a lazy day in the parents garden Sunday to play with a...

Very, very rare lens for Pentax 67

The Hartblei is produced in Pentax K mount as well as 645 and 67 and Nikon, Canon, Leica and Minolta mounts to boot. 45mm for MF and 35mm for 135 - to long to be useful on APS-C sensors. I think the OP must be talking about the silver colour being rare, the lens certainly isn't. They are built in Uk...
