Out on the E-Bike.
Pfff - try living in Madrid! I always lived close to the sea until I moved here and now I'm 400km away from the nearest coastline. I need a bit of sea every once in a while, good for the soul. In the meantime I'll have to settle for wonderful photos like these :) Well in truth I suspect neither o...

A Trioplan for Halloween - Arrgh !
Everyone ought to know my love of the Meyer Optik Trioplan by now - in its many variants. This collection is (almost) pure, classic 100mm f2.8 and I dare you to step into this mind altering, fungal circus. Psycho-active fungus reaches its peak at Halloween. One is warned about the shaggy parasol but...

Mr Mouse
What an experience to see and photograph that. How cute and very intelligent these creatures are. In August my wife and I watched a very tiny harvest mouse pop in out from under a hedge and nibble at an apple core. Over about half and hour it gradually moved it about 3 inches and under the hedge o...

Autumn with an old favourite
I never tried the K5iis but I feel the same way about the K-3iii. I cannot think of anything else I want of a camera. I also have never tired the A135/1.8 either which would be a fun lens to use. Nice photos by the way. The K3 Mkiii is the pinnacle of APS-C with targeted improvements over previous...

Trying the GR4 on Sn Mode.
A test if you like of this Sn (snap) mode which is I understand a new mode introduced with the GR4, it is meant mainly for Street photography really but... I also shot into the sun almost to test the in built auto ND filter. All but one shot is however with -0.3 ev at f8. All SOOC no pp. 1. ...

Autumnal Footbridge
Thanks folks, appreciated. I often use that bridge for an informal check on focus and depth of field - stand near on end, focus on the other end, see which of the railings are in focus. Hardly an exact test, but quick and easy, which is good enough for me  . The inspiration for the second o...

My Pentax Collection
You did well with the 50-200mm. They are in short supply at the moment. Also just heard that Sigma have a huge demand for Pentax fit now too. So it really looks like the Pentax brand is back on the map :-)

A few to start with
Long time, no hear. Welcome back. Is that a Ricoh lens on the LX? EDIT: I'll answer my own question: it's the SMCP-A 50mm 1.2 Special. Looks like a Limited lens. I suspect this is the cream of your collection. Certainly very rare. G

My stuff
Biggest difference is the weight. DS is 695g and the 645 is a whopping 2kg! I still love the 645 which when it came out was the height of sophistication but it's features are almost stone age now; but when you use it you really wonder if you need any of the latest technology. When it came ...

My stuff
When it came back from a service a while back I ran a couple of rolls through it as a test - every shot using the built in meter and evry shot was perfectly exposed. Sometimes it's like the camera actually knows what exposure to use, isn't it?

how about supply and demand, and increased competition, driving r&d funding and rapid model releases forcing the development of 35mm to progress at a faster rate, resulting in higher resolution lenses getting to market? there was some testing a few years back that showed 35mm lenses had in fa...

Favourite Primes
50mm 1.4's, 85mm soft focus, 10-17mm fisheye, 28-70 f4, 28-200. love 'em in that order. use the 28-200 most followed by the 28-70. 50mm's close third.
