Totally, mind-blowingly, hallucinogenically, sense-expandingly fabulous! How dare you take such wonderful photographs with a lens that isn't the latest, greatest, super-expensive, computer-designed, ultra-sharp, overweight monster??
Were you a child of the 60's by any chance?

Excellent narrative put together around those enlightening shots David...really well done.
Mushrooms and fungi in general though...what an enigma for most...depending on which one you pick you can get to experience everything from a tasty, healthy meal to agonising death and everything in-between, the most popular middle stop being a state of altered consciousness (so I believe!).
I wonder how population growth in ancient times was affected in these lands, as a process of 'trial and error' took place whereby someone lived or died depending on which fungi they picked and ate at random.

Karlo

Agree with all of the above. It had me laughing a couple of times. A great post showing originality in both the images and the writing. SSF1957's word - imagination, says it all.
Be well, stay safe, but most of all, invest in memories

Slap in the middle of England
Expect your vision to start wandering quite quickly. My neighbour's car, parked across the street took on an almost fine art appearance.
Which quickly morphed into a bewildering collection of mobile spheres
and which finally resolved into an invitation to enter some woodland that I used to know very well but that seemed to have shifted into a different dimension. It isn't what I once knew.
Come in - if you dare! .... It rustles and it drips - and one hits the back of your neck, causing an adrenaline fright.
And your attention is suddenly attracted to a bright red jewel (bottom left) in total contrast to the prevailing drab green !
And everything explodes into a fiery eruption of flames and sparks - but which will suddenly subside .....
and will present you with a smorgasbord of fungal delights to carry your experiences forwards with cheesey delights and with mobile cauliflowers and not forgetting the intense calling of tiny slime molds to finally ruin your woodland tour.
The slime mold mentioned at the end wishes it to be known that it has no relation to the various fungi with which it shares the same tree stump.
