Alien upclose.

Yes, the second one is the better 'alien' for me, too. Have you tried getting to minimum focus distance (not pushing the lens through the window of course )? It looks like the sort of thing where filling most of the frame with the seeds at the end of the spike could produce an interesting shot...

13 ICM Images

Thanks all, appreciate the comments and feedback. Can't see the point of this type of photography! Also known as camera shake? There lies the question, what is the point? This then begs the questions, what is the point of photography? Is it to record a scene as your eye took it, where the subject...

Donkeys, Donkeys, Donkeys...

Mrs L and I visited the donkey sanctuary at Sidmouth on what turned out to be a rare dry day (once the rain had passed). As expected given recent weather, the donkeys were in or near their shelters rather than in paddocks and fields. No problem in principle, you can get close to them. However, we ar...

Cosmeston Lake - ICM & Textures

Methinks that's another one for a gallery wall, Gareth ! :D Saving to the wrong file format and no way of going back?? I suspect we've all done that - I certainly have :(. But starting from scratch if you want to tweak it might actually be to your advantage as it will be more of a creative proces...

Back to earth!

A day without snow, rain, ice or high winds and the first decent walk in what seemed like quite a while in the Stainland area of Calderdale. Nothing fantastic, just some lovely light. K70 + Sigma 17-70, a nice light weight combination. All comments welcome. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

Back to earth!

The light on the last one is particularly pleasing.

Oh, the Colours!

Well, the Christmas lights are now back in the loft. However, I couldn't resist one final blast of IOOF colour before putting them away. This time, it's from a string of small, illuminated coloured balls that had been flashing away outside the house for a few weeks. I put the string in a heap on the...

Some film shots with ME Super

Yes these are lovely. Though as an owner of a ME super. My first camera. Ive wanted to get a roll of film and go out myself. But as you have commented the cost is vary prohibitive right now. On another note. Who does the developing ? Are you doing it yourself ? I did have a "Darkroom" back in the da...

Some film shots with ME Super

Thanks Steve. That's as far back as I could stand. I clicked the shutter because of the framing elements of all those branches /trees etc. Ty for commenting

Mr Robin

Lucky you! I've just spent an hour counting birds for the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch. No robin, for the first time for years. Taken today in the back garden looking for worms I hope you did the decent thing and turned over some leaves or earth to help the little bird find what it was looking for...

Cactus Seedpod

A terrific macro Steve. Better too many shots than not enough imho, they're easily deleted if not needed but to go back and set up the shot again if you missed one or two  Do you mind me asking what stacking software you use? I've always preferred Zerene Stacker.

Cactus Seedpod

Thank, folks. Appreciated. Do you mind me asking what stacking software you use? I use the focus merge (i.e. stacking) option in Affinity Photo. Just load the jpg's, press 'start' and it does the rest. Easy, quick and the results seem OK. I've often wondered whether to get specialist stacking softw...

Sticky Bud

The latest focus stack challenge has been a sticky bud (horse chestnut). A tricky blighter - everything sticks to it (including dust ), mustn't touch it, reflects from convex shiny surface. But finally managed it without the result being too shabby (to my eyes, at least). And yes, if you lo...

5 actually sharp and in focus images!

Proof I can shoot things sharp and in focus! Today I popped down to Penarth Pier to try out my new sprocket rocket film camera. Slight delay seeing how it performed as my film developer is expired! I took with me also my K1ii, D FA 24-70mm and Irix 15mm which are here: 1. by , on Fli...

5 actually sharp and in focus images!

Nicely balanced B@W photographs Gareth, especially No 3 with the kid flying through the scene. Great timed shot and composer to keep the composition aligned perfectly. I have also just received recently an Irix 15mm from MPB Berlin, it was down as the fire fly version but when i opened the the box...

5 actually sharp and in focus images!

Aha, so you haven't forgotten how to do it! A really good set IMHO and technically excellent (of course). The unifying compositional device of symmetry with converging lines seems to emphasise the different aspects of each photograph. And the shape of the back of the seat repeated in the shape of th...

5 actually sharp and in focus images!

The 24-70 is a vastly underrated lens IMO. It has the MOJO my Nikkor AF-S 24-70 didn't have and which was dispatched to MPB. Lovely images.
