Thanks again folks! Spad - I think the focus point was too close, not where I intended! Yes, I have 'dabbled' with hyperfocal. The other one I took there is better for focus, 16-85 lens, f8.

Richard Gilder center
Stunning photo of what seems like an impressive space :D. If you hadn't said it was taken with the 03 fisheye I'd have assumed that all the curves were due to the architect's extremely creative imagination . Steve It is extremely curvy even without the fisheye! I'm awaiting a batch of...

The Garden Through A Mirror Lens
OK, it's confession time. Guess who relieved LennyBloke of the heavy burden of owning a Tamron 500mm mirror lens... And today was the first opportunity to try it out - bright sun and no rain, albeit with gusty wind. It's definitely an interesting lens. Manual focus with shallow DOF was never going t...

The Garden Through A Mirror Lens
That red admiral is gorgeous. As you have demonstrated, get the focus smack on and avoid lots of twinkly highlights. Lovely collection. It does good macro too!

The Garden Through A Mirror Lens
Thanks folks. I'm actually quite intrigued by the Mysteron rings. With the right subject, they open up interesting possibilities for the background. And with some subjects they were an unexpected focussing aid - a bright spot on the subject showing as an ever-decreasing ring as focus was approached....

New Zhong Yi Optics 200mm f4 Macro 1X Lens converted to Pentax K mount
Thanks for the review. Not clear if Pentax mount will be offered or if this was a one off? If a one off, could the mount conversion be part of the issues you experienced? And how weird if not being made with a Pentax mount that they go to the trouble of converting the lens (where'd they get t...

New Zhong Yi Optics 200mm f4 Macro 1X Lens converted to Pentax K mount
At minimum focus distance (1:1 mag), the working distance for the Irix 150mm is 13cm with hood attached, which is close to the 14cm you give for the Zhong Yi with hood attached - so much the same for a biting insect evaluating the threat from a manually focussing photographer! Without lens hood, the...

Air Traffic Control Overview - RSPB Bempton
It was the result of quite a bit of experimentation following the advice and inspiration of a fellow photographer. Burst mode for c10-15 seconds or until the buffer filled up. Manual focus. Then focus merged a set of them in Affinity2. Depends on the burst mode speed - not every photo was merged. ...

Day, night and day!
I went out the other day to a friends... on the way back I had a play. Then at night was bored sitting in the house, so I went out with the camera. The next day I buggered off out for another play!

Never mind the K3iii - here's one from a K3ii.
Now that made me think. Birds and out of normal reach things were why I bought the lens. Since then it has gradually transformed into a lens for maximum magnification at shortish distances (the sort of distance that won't quite spook a butterfly etc.). Both birds and butterflies are now 'conventiona...

Hairy Shieldbug
This little one popped out of the undergrowth to see what was disturbing its rest. It didn't offer to help me attack the weeds (mostly bindweed) that shouldn't have been in the flower border. However, it did hang around long enough for me to go indoors, grab a camera with suitable lens and return to...

Always enjoyed your contributions QC, and if anything your style has become more varied and even better than before. This little set is superb IMO, street portraiture at its best :!:
