Coupe of indoor shots with Porst 1.2/55mm and S-M-C Takumar 2.8/120
Here's a couple of shots of my usual subject with a new-to-me Porst 1.2/55mm lens. As far as I recall, they are all wide open. It's pretty fiddly to get the focus right with my K5iis viewfinder, I used LV to help on at least one of them. by , on Flickr by , on Flickr by , on Fli...

Dolphin Falls
Thanks all, some wet toes did take place getting this shot. I'd only taken my wellies off in favour of trainers to drive in when I stopped and saw this waterfall, opting to smash and grab it and not welly up. I have a few other 'bigger' compositions of the whole space that I haven't processed yet. ...

More Rocks and Coastal.
Today's walk down to Bovisand Beach, with the K1 mkII and a 50-200 DA ED WR in Cropped mode, f11 ISO 200; I thought I would take this old lens out for a test on the KP, not used it for ages, nice and light to carry. The results are good IMHO, I purchased this back in 2019 for £30 IIRC, and it's in ...

Some shots with a Helios 44-2 lens I found hidden at the back of my drawer (warning: more dog pictures)
I was having a bit of a clearout yesterday and found a Helios 44-2 2/58mm at the back of a drawer. I must have bought it ages ago and forgot about it. I put it on the camera with an m42 adapter and remember why, it is a little wobbly since the flange at the end of the m42 screw thread is too small t...

Lovely dog pictures (again). That lens certainly delivers.

Just put mine on a K1 with a Pentax adapter and it snugs up perfectly. I shall have a play with it tomorrow.

Gotcha... finally!!
Never knew you could focus on the fungus inside the lens  Obvs a joke there  Anyone who stays up late to photograph stars and the like in the cold when they should be tucked up in bed gets my respect. My buddy Steve who is a Pentax shooter also likes astro stuff, here is his 8...

Beilstein Castle
And my vote goes to ... the third. Interesting how the focus of attention changes through the sequence (or at least it does to me). It's the big hill in the first one, the castle in the second and the white building with a spire (church?) in the third. Don't know why it changes but it does. I wi...

Great White Egret
Is the 1.7 TC showing slightly better sharpness than the newer 1.4 TC or is it my eyes? :) Probably due to a mixture of my (in)ability to get focus spot on, my skills (or not) in post-processing and the 1.4 TC shot (the first) being a bigger crop than the others. I haven't done a forensic, pixel-lev...

Fly Mug Shot
Hi coker, many thanks for the information. I've yet to try focus stacking, but I've tried a similar lens setup without extension rings etc. and been surprised how will it works. I used a K200mm f4 lens attached to the camera and various manual lenses reversed (50mm, 35mm, 28mm) on flat or nearly ...

Fly Mug Shot
Hi Mike. Go to Blocklayer.com, & you will find the facilities to draw &, subsequently, print protractors up to 8"in diameter. This or, rather, 90 degrees of it, will sit on the focus ring of your 200mm f4 nicely. Pint 360 & you've 3 to make mistakes on! To make a shoe/cradle for it to sit on s...

Snow, sun and shadows
Thanks for the clarification, Gareth. Personally I don't mind the dark bits - it's just the way things are. Richard, my metering is very basic! ie. manually adjusting aperture, shutter speed and ISO so that the brightest parts of the image are not overexposed in the viewfinder; then bringing back...
