I think it works ok !
It really is a special lens that was difficult to part with, but because I rarely used it it's far better that it now belongs to someone who can get results like this from it  You are already making it sing Peter 8) Who would bet against me regretting it and hunting down another in future ...

Michaelmas Daisy
Thanks Ian, LB & Steve. Taken indoors on the kitchen table, lit by diffused flash on full power to "get through" the dense red of the IR72 filter. Took some care judging the start & end points of the stack because of the focus-point difference with IR. Cheers, Roger.

Fisheye Train Spotting
It's between 2 and 5 for me. 2 has pleasing colours and gives a good sense of speed. 5 provides the eye with a bit of relief and an area of focus. It looks like a difficult scene to capture, with awkward leading lines. The two pictures I've picked both demonstrate a bit of intent IMO.

Red Duster In Memorium
The red duster brings back a few memories from my younger days. Me too. I began my various 'careers' as a navigating apprentice with BP Tankers straight after boarding school. Two years and then left, (personal reasons.) Great learning and served me well in the military.

Moss Sporangium
Thanks for the nice comments, Steve. Yes, it was a stack, of 14 x 1/2 degrees of focus ring rotation. The head of the sporangium is about a mm. long, I actually forgot to take a scale rule shot, so that's just a rough dim. from life. I don't think there would be enough DOF for a single shot, c...

8 images taken from the street in Cardiff today
Here are a few from today's outing to Cardiff, well back and forth the car park to the uni campus. Haven't posted for a while as I've been playing with 720nm and 590nm infrared on my camera that's a different brand so can't post here but if you follow me on instagram, you'll see them! All wit...

The Fauna of Brownsea Island (2022)
Thanks for the comments, truly appreciated - Sorry but didn't see any Hedgehogs , the leaping squirrel was just pure luck (and isn't sharp) - These were all taken with the K1 MkII and the FA* 400mm f5.6, there were lots of slightly out of focus shots but my success rate was higher this year ...

Tendrils
Some bits of tendrils from the butternut squash plants that have been trying to take over the vegetable patch for the last few months. Removed from the plants and photographed indoors - trying to do it in situ would have required entering a tangled mass of vegetation that might have swallowed me who...

Breakfast on the lawn
Thanks all for comments so far. Yes, it's a rare chance for it to happen like that. The fact that she kept coming back made the day interesting - I became a real curtain twitcher. As is often the case, a photo is not just a set of pixels or a print - it's a reminder of something special and thi...

Clouds Over The Bristol Channel
Cheeky image from the dog walk yesterday walking along the Welsh Coastal Path where I live. Taken with the K3ii and the 18-135mm. Not the same one I bought from CeX, that went back, but for £10 more I picked one up from eBay that was newly listed and came with the right caps back and front as wel...

Underside of a Fern Frond
The mechanism a fern has for distributing its spores (seeds). The "sack" the spores are in is semi-surrounded by a ridged, spring-like structure, which, when the spores are ripe, expands & throws itself backwards which ejects the spores into the air & away. Various stages of this operation can b...

Underside of a Fern Frond
... If you can manage a small enough step-size ... Can't you? In the middle of the night while trying to get back to sleep I've fantasised about attaching the protractor to a spindle that has a worm gear which drives a big gear with lots of teeth that moves the camera by a very, very, very tiny ste...

Underside of a Fern Frond
......thought about utilising one of those £30-odd follow focus units & putting a big protractor on instead of the white ring for marking A & B stops, but using a fitted gear ring on the lens, not those stupid ones with the knuckle like a cable tie....then move the focus ring with the protractor.......

New (to me) F series 24 - 50mm lens. First outing.
I've been using the 'A' series 24 - 50 for a while and have been very impressed with it. Unfortunately, my eyes are not what they were and I get the odd miss focus so when I saw an 'F' series for sale, I grabbed it since it is the same optical formula. There doesn't seem to be a hood for it so you ...

Last nights exposures
The ideas are good, the subject matter is spot on, the pictures are eye-catching. :) And definitely worthwhile experimenting at the wind farm. The effect you've achieved with the turbine blades is striking IMHO. And the Morse code star trails have grown on me. At first viewing, I thought it would...

Nut and No Nut
Today, Mrs L. very kindly gave me a nut that she had found on a tree while out walking. This wasn't entirely random, there was a reason for it. Anyway, the chance to photograph a fresh nut was too good to miss. So I set it up in the macro rig and proceeded to adjust lighting, alignment, focus and al...

Street Portraits/Studio on Film
Its been quite some time that I shot film of any kind but ive been drawn back to it after seeing some great work by other photographers both in the north and south of Ireland. A roll of Portra 160 is around 20 quid and the delvelopment is the same so just over a whopping £40 for a roll of film work...

Street Portraits/Studio on Film
Excellent work as always. Yeah, film prices are through the roof, and Portra is one of the few that's actually available - so much is out of stock everywhere. Camera prices have also gone up enormously. I think we discussed a possible move to medium format a few years back. My 645 is the ori...
