Coastal Walking today.
Thank you all peeps for the comments. Steve, I have corrected the horizon on number 3 (hopefully, whoops). No problem with your editing, crop away etc. I was reasonably happy with the shadows in my rocks in numbers 3 and 4, and close up in No. 4 especially, but your added contrast does improve it,...

Coastal Walking today.
these are not working for me I am afraid. The light was too harsh, as you admitted. Go back at sunrise or sunset. Why 'too harsh', Peter? (Serious question.) Learning for me from this. The trouble with bright sunshine when it is high in the sky is that you can get high contrast images with a ...

5 from Aberaeron
No 1 definitely for me. Thanks buddy :D That one is a composite of 2 images to retain sharpness front to back with one image focused on the foreground rocks and then another focused on the end pole with the red bit on. The 24-70mm I can confirm does focus breath!

6 from Cilborth Beach
Cilborth beach is the next cove along from Llangrannog beach. They're separated via Llangrannog rock. At low tide the 2 beaches are one but when the tide comes back in, the beach is separated and cut off from another. 1. by , on Flickr 2. by , on Flickr 3. by , on Flickr 4...

Leaf Abstracts
No 5 is very interesting as is no3, in that a single line is the only focus. Abstract in a good way, liked

Around Derwentwater ...
Wrong time of day? For what ? :? Those mid-day/early afternoon photos (which I like a lot) convey the feel of that time of day very well. That's a good thing IMHO. The boat photo conveys the feeling of evening (and a lazy one, too!) very well, and that's also a good thing. Which would I have on t...

A walk from Rosthwaite, Borrowdale
Agree with Peter's comment re portrait orientation really working well in No. 4. And the walker is in just the right place to give a sense of the scale of the ascent ahead of them. To my eyes, the strongest of the landscape format photos is No. 6, the shape of the ridge line seems to focus attention...

I also like your frog. As for the black slug, my missus would not hesitate to stamp on it.

Your technique is impressive; choice of subject sometimes less appealing!

For Lovers Of Good Beer ...
... who know that at the heart of every good beer is a good hop. And these must be good ones because they are mine :D:D. The green one ('wet' in brewing terminology) is fresh from the garden. The brown one ('dry' in brewing terminology) is from last year and dried in the garden shed. Both show the l...

IV Mining Bees - your thoughts, please
As in-focus photos of a bee, they are all superb, but I found (before reading any comments) that my eye was drawn first to the greenery and only afterwards to the bee - almost like "These are nice photos. Oh, look, there's a bee as well!" But your technique in capturing the bee in focus is great!

IV Mining Bees - your thoughts, please
All your comments are much appreciated. Whilst I quite often post to the Gallery, I have very rarely submitted my images and invited constructive criticism on this or any other forum. It is reassuring, then, to learn that I am not entirely delusional in believing that in the years since I first ...

Control Room
Now I can't decide ! I liked the symmetry of the vents, and although it may not be obvious, my original does try to show the shape of the ceiling, which is domed. john's crop does focus more on the equipment however which is the point of the photo. Decisions, decisions :D
