Macro Stack
Not bad at all for a first attempt :). As you've no doubt noticed yourself (so why am I pointing it out?), there's an out of focus band near the top which looks a bit odd. Probably due to not having an image in the stack with that area in focus. Beware the second attempt. Focus stacking is a sli...

Macro Stack
There's a time-honoured tradition in macro-land of making ad-hoc gadgets and gizmos from bits and pieces and rubber bands and of using common items in uncommon ways. It can get you a long way. One of my lighting supports is a retort stand that was in a chemistry set I had as a kid, another is an old...

A few sessions in my back garden....
Frogs always demand to be photographed so I doubt you will get into any trouble with them. .... Love the grasshopper.

green Lacewing Larva Hatch
Found an adult few days back & put her (as it turned out!) in clear plastic pot for later inspection. On next looking, there were eggs, on stalks! Kept an eye on them & there were subtle changes in the eggs' appearance, sort of stripey..... Then, hatching began! No chance of stacking, activity...

Still life (or Hat & Wine)
The first shot works well for me with that 10 to 2 clock face semi symmetrical positioning - personally I would have converted to a contrasty monochrome to give it more "punch", but having said that the clear quality of the image shows much better at full size 8) I'm not so keen on the second im...

Night Spider Bothering....
Tonight I have been mostly pestering spiders in my back garden! Using my recently acquired Manfrotto flash diffuser tent thingy!

It's down to ignorance
I recently went to a local fete because they had a Spitfire flypast. I had just got a new K-3 III the day before and I thought it would be a good test so I got down there in plenty of time and waited. The sky was perfect as the plane flew over two or 3 times, I had already got my settings dialled...

It's down to ignorance
New kit first time out is always a challenge! Great expectations don't help the technique. Just thought I'd add two links for the Kangaroo logo on the Lanc. https://www.lincolnshirelive.co.uk/news/local-news/gallery/lincolnshires-lancaster-back-home-new-167704 https://www.lincolnshire...

Kingfishers
I was at Arundel a few weeks back too, there are two pairs apparently. I took some at the Sand Martin Hide and unfortunately the windows were screwed shut (for the Sand Martin's benefit) so I had an extra layer of smudged glass. In spite of this, I managed a few shots of a singular bird and only w...

Some more old Astons
I know some of these images are not particularly good photographically, but it is never easy to get what one would desire at events like these where cars are parked close together and people are milling around. Can't agree with you on this Peter - I know we often yearn for the perfect angle, the...

Little Dying Flower
This morning, I decided to see whether the high mag macro kit (using the Laowa 25mm 2.5-5x macro) could be set up in the spare bedroom that passes for my study/office/hideaway. There was just enough room on the desk among the computer, screen, hifi, electronic thingies etc.. For a test subject, a ma...

Little Dying Flower
Hi, Steve. I'd be very interested to see/hear how you achieved your 1/24mm focus step size for your stacks, or is it still a W.I.P.? Cheers, Roger. (coker)

Coastal Walking today.
Thank you David. This lens has been described as a great piece of engineering, or something like that. I can see why, internal focus, internal zoom, the elements, filter compatible, some FF at 16 to 18mm etc and sharpness everywhere. Not too heavy, AW resistance, Star rated. I've just got to hopef...

these are not working for me I am afraid. The light was too harsh, as you admitted. Go back at sunrise or sunset.
