A bit of Spring coming and some leaving. Image heavy but good to be back and got the small lightweight stuff out of my system.
That is the boundary fence between the gardens Nigel. Bamboo canes . Was a very busy background but the f2.8 really helped soften the blow thanks to all for looking.

Under a bridge...!
Back in time yesterday. Had to go into Manchester to collect my K1. So took the opportunity to get out with the K5II and Sigma 10-20.. Found myself down by the canal...

Sigma 105mm F2.8 Macro - first time out
During mixed weather last week, so a few outdoor in the sun, a few more in the snow and a few indoors. First impressions? Very sharp but not always easy to focus or to judge depth of field. Probably best used on a tripod rather than hand-held. Image quality and bokeh potentially superb! A few on K3,...

Sigma 105mm F2.8 Macro - first time out
A good haul from a first time out :). Hand held is definitely difficult with these sort of pictures but no more so than with any similar macro lens and, as you've shown, it is possible to get good results. Were you using manual focus or autofocus? I've wondered about trying catch-in-focus with th...

Sigma 105mm F2.8 Macro - first time out
Thanks for all your comments, folks - much appreciated. Steve - "manual or autofocus?" - a bit of both! I found the focus ring quite difficult to manage as it seems loose and hard to use accurately - but that could just be me not used to it. Autofocus (single point) wasn't always better hand-held...

Portland Prison & Young Offender Institution
Cor. That brings back memories. I was in that place twice. NOT as an inmate but first to demonstrate a machine which I used to sell and then back again to teach them how to use it. The kids in there had some really good people looking after them. They had Engineering. Farming. Woodworking and many o...

Coastal Inversion before and afters
So where I live the main road etc is higher altitude wise than the village I live in and as you drive down the road to the village, you're greeted with a wonderful view of the village below, the Bristol channel and then England opposite. A few days ago we had, what can only be described as a cloud i...

Tangled trees.
More pics of the vine tangled trees. More or less SOOC with a bit of brightness and contrast added, used the old flash too. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Bit out of focus here but left in rather than crop it. :) 7.

Tangled trees.
I've just been cutting back some unruly ivy in the garden - thank goodness the stems weren't as thick as these!!! Numbers 2 and 4 stand out for me. To my eyes, they look as if a multi-tentacled creature is climbing up the trunk. Scary :o. Steve

Mach Loop revisited
First time out there for about two and a half years plus. Met a great group of like minded enthusiasts atop Cad East...a good day was had by all. First time using the K-5IIs / Samyang 135 combo...all shots with these. Lots of slightly out of focus... but very good results when focus accurate.

Look what I pulled out of the border.
A conker sprouting forth as a Horse Chestnut , not what I want near the house so I impaled it onto a black card and focus stacked it with 17 exposures using Helicon Focus. Well it is a bank holiday and the roads are heaving!

Look what I pulled out of the border.
Excellent picture!! And a good use of a Bank Holiday weekend, says I who once failed to remove a conker in time. Many years ago, one of my (young at the time) children dug a hole near the pond, emptied a large bag full of conkers into it and covered them with soil. I eventually managed to remove ...

SMC Pentax "K" 28mm f/3.5 shift
This is my second copy of this lens. Optically just as good as the first but cosmetically much nicer. I eventually managed to sell my original one on. On the US Fora I have been doing the "Single in..." challenge. April was month four of using my K-series lenses (so far K28/2, K120/2.8, K50/1.4 ...

SMC Pentax "K" 28mm f/3.5 shift
Thanks both. I've often thought about getting the Samyang but didn't know how sharp it is. I've often merged exposures (especially for interiors) using Photomatix Pro although with the K-3iii I've found less need to do that as I can often pull back the highlights from the raw file. I've yet to tr...

Pest.
Worth a go with an extension tube rather than a tc, manual tubes are fine its easier to sway back and forth a little to get focus.

Lake District walks (1)
Gary, first time I'm aware of that someone has gone somewhere because of a photo I took! Glad you had good weather too. I always come back from the Lakes with far too many photos taken so I know what you mean - it's always "Wow, what a view!" then five minutes later " an even better one!" of exactly...
