Out and About #2 - Nethy Bridge, Highland
We spent a week with family in Scotland during the half-term. Not wanting to travel too far, we stayed together in a cottage in the Cairngorm National Park. It appeared that most folk had flown abroad for the holidays, with the honey pot of Aviemore rather quiet. Being the grumpy soul that I am t...

Roath Park Lake Lighthouse
Popped to this location after university today. Shame as as I walked around the lake they were removing a load of dead swans on full PPE gear as there is bird flu there. I have a colour version on Flickr but haven't posted it here as I feel the angle I shot it makes it lean back and I didn't like it...

Buff in FFD
After a failed attempt a week or so ago, along with poor weather and work getting in the way, had a trip to Fairford this morning on the off chance of some B52 activity. Take off K3iii with Pentax 70 - 200 F2.8 - 200 ISO - 1/500 to 1/640 sec / For landing I changed lens to the 150 - 450 @ 450 ( e...

Rocks and Wrecks
I've been going back on forth on the second picture: there is potential here. If the sun would oblige and light up the sea to accentuate the turquoisey-green, this would work well with the browney-greens and orangey-red of the rocks. I bet this is also a good location when the waves are rolling i...

First images with the FA 20-35mm
Here's another example of what I mean. All these images were shot today on a dog walk. Focused on the greenery sticking up, I'd like to think there was enough contrast there to lock focus good, the camera seemed to think it was focused good but when you zoom in afterwards... But t...

Cheltenham Fillies 2022
Nice work on all portraits and you are far braver than I ,for venturing with a camera among the public 5 for myself and I’d crop the right side all the way to where her clothing begins as the out of focus area on the left side is still is readable with figures for balance👍

Trees (SATOBI?)
Well, thanks for the help (not). After watching a video on YouTube I found out that you have to take the photos in live view, press the right hand button to the right of the back screen, move across until you come across SATOBI. Again, thanks for the help.

A beautiful set. I would be interested to hear more about “getting the lightweight stuff out of my system”.

Thanks for looking and comments. Do like using this lens even though it has issues and doesn't work in live view, a firmware problem apparently but Sigma no longer repairing this lens or the 100-300mm f4 which i had thought about but don' t want to end up with another problem lens , especially at th...

All very nice indeed. Looking at them brought back a thought to me, we all look at things but (in my case anyway) don't actually SEE them, until they are photographed, I guess the ability to SEE a photographic shot is what separates a true photographer from the majority of us. Please excuse the ramb...

thanks for comments, the magnolia were starting to go over which surprised me as they had only really started to show about 3 weeks ago. It's possible the storm winds didn't help

In agreement with everyone else: the magnolias are great. My favourite is #2 with the background providing an echo of the catkins.
