What's your favourite?

I still use my MZ5-n, but it feals a little cheap in the hand along side my K10. I sold my Program A, loved that camera though! I also have an LX and when it comes back form being serviced I am sure to be giving it a go. It's a shame I can't use the DA lenses on it as it only uses the apature s...

What's your favourite?

When it died I used an MX which I loved, but my current example has the battery drain problem. :( Easy DIY fix for that - and follow the simple instruction. Hey presto, you have a functioning MX once more! :D As for the original question, I'd love to say that I use all my cameras equally but th...

What's your favourite?

Easy DIY fix for that - go to the last paragraph on this page and follow the simple instruction. Hey presto, you have a functioning MX once more! Yup, I saw that the other day when you sent me the link for another topic. Once my MX and I are both on the same side of the Atlantic I'll give it a whir...

autofocus

As you can see from my signature, my cameras jump from the manual focus film days to the K10D. My only experience with the autofocus film era were very tatty examples trashed by students in our photo lab. Is there any consensus as to the best of the post A-series film cameras? Perhaps this shou...

autofocus

I'd never owned an AF camera until my first digicam (a Kodak back in 99) so I can't help much there. I've noticed on here over time that the Z1 does seem to have quite a few supporters though, if I was looking for an AF film camera it would probably be my first port of call.

autofocus

I use my SFX where my K10D dare not tread, it has never let me down yet and it's always come back in one piece. I actually have 2 of them and an SF7 because you just can't sell them on ebay. My favourite AF film camera though has to be my MZ-7. hardly larger than an ME-Super with pattern metering...

autofocus

I felt that after the Super A series the camera drifted from the Pentax philosophy. The MZ5 and MZ3 models firmly returned to the path. I think John and I must have been twins in a previous life, here I am agreeing with his comments yet again:D My introduction to Pentax was with the MZ7 after ...

p30t ?

Branden, The film rewind crank is on the left. Pull it straight up and the back will pop open. After you load film , make sure you push it down again. Cheers

Advice needed

The Vivitar extension tubes are unlikely to have any of the electronic contacts or the AF coupler that the AF lens needs. However, the AF lens can be used in manual focus mode and the camera body can use stop-down metering. Everything will need to be set manually but metering will still be possible....

What scanner?

I have the Nikon Coolscan V ED and it's superb - but not cheap... I've been considering getting one of these (or, possibly its big brother, the Coolscan 5000, which has a bit more optical density range). What I really need is, for a first pass, to be able to get decent scan quality, with minimum...

What scanner?

You feed in a strip and if you use the motorised feed you still have to scan one at a time. If you use the manual feed you have to carefully mount the strip for every scan. The process is incredibly slow and excruciatingly slow if done with care to a higher standard. We rarely scan these days - o...

What scanner?

Chris, The Vuescan software is available here: http://www.hamrick.com/ It's been a looong time since I did scanning :P Vuescan has auto-insertion detection for slides - so that worked a treat. For negs, with the Coolscan IV you had to fiddle about with a neg carrier, and Vuescan could detect when...

What scanner?

Been reading these old forums about slide scanners, and would like to ask although, if you are on a budget, want something quick and easy, that still gives relatively good results, to bring out some good into you old fuji velvia slides, what would you recommend Pick up a Nikon Coolscan off of ebay, ...

Help for S1a

Yes it will certainly be repairable and you could check out Asahi Photo and Harrow Technical plus others that advertise Pentax repairs at the back of Amateur Photographer and other magazines. It won't be cost effective though and it would be financially better to just buy an S1a that works. Ho...

Pentax MZ 5N, Good price??

hmmm I would have thought the MZ5N would work with DA lenses. Thats changed my thinking somewhat. Thanks impotentspider but I will need to do a little more research on this before I proceed. I have seen a couple of MZ 7's listed at considerably less than your offer. Let me look into it and I...
