mx split image focus screen

Does anyone still have the basic pentax mx focusing screen for sale? I have just bought a pentax mx online and the seller sold me a scratched screen and has refused to refund. Now I'm stuck with a working camera and a broken focusing screen. Would appreciate if anyone could help me. Thank...

ME Super shutter problem?

I use a Super Program quite often - in the same family as your ME. Can you see if the batteries are still strong by the read-outs? Or try changing the batteries? What is/was your selsector set to? Try all settings. Would you be willing to rewind the film? Or try pressing in the rewind relea...

The old find new use!

I decided it had been a long time science the ME Super and Super A had gotten any use so today I went to London Camera Exchange to get some B&W film, batteries and loaded them up. Unfortunately I don't have anything to show for it yet as there are two roles of 36 exposures and there weren't that...

The old find new use!

One thing that I really could not stop was tilting the camera after shooting to look at the back. It is just a reflex now as I am so used to doing it.  Well, could be worse, you could have tried to compensate the serious underexposure.

The light seal kit turned up today but I'm off out for a bbq / birthday bash so no time to get cracking unfortunately. I did, however, make a start by stripping down the most obviously broken of the 4 bodies (the one where the meter had been de-soldered). As I went through it became obvious that t...

Progress is being made, albeit at a much slower pace than I'd anticipated (life has a nasty habit of getting in the way) but I have been making notes and I'll write it all up at some point. The first phoenix from the flames has coughed into life and I've just run 20 shots of film through her (I'l...

Cheers Clarky, I don't have any video unfortunately but I've still got enough bits left over to build another MX so I'll hold that thought... Off out in a bit and the MX will be taking the place of the K10D riding shotgun with me, so I'm hoping to finish the first roll of film today. I'l...

Roll #1 is now finished and winging its way to the Fuji Lab in Warwick via 1st class post as I type. Although it was process paid I've ticked the box and paid the extra to have them put on a CD - makes it easier to show y'all the fruits of my labours... Since going digital back in 2000 ...

A quick update: The photos came back from the lab in yesterday's post and I'm happy to confirm that exposure and focus seem to be spot on. All speeds worked as they should and I'm hereby declaring this rebuild a success! :D Unfortunately, the film that I used appears to have lost all its &quo...

Just like to say I've followed your camera rebuild with great interest and feel a little inspired to have a go myself. Got a couple of candidates at home in need of a little tender loving care. My late fathers Program A, and his tamron 28-70 zoom. The mirror cushioning foam has all fallen to pieces,...

Many thanks for the repair tip! I'll have to give it a try. I've had good luck buying used gear from KEH, which is just up the road from me in Atlanta. Sadly they don't have a walk-in showroom; all sales are by mail, or as you say, post. They have a website, www.keh.com or can be called on t...

I have just picked up this thread I am glad I did as I have a bettery drain problem, so now I can fix it. It is strange how we can get attatched to cameras, as I certainly feel an affinity with mine. I brought it new in 1978 and with the winder it cost me £299, which was a great deal of money for...

I love the idea of the limiteds but they just didn't seem to be suited to my DS. I really needed a quality standard zoom that wasn't too huge and it looked like the Nikon 16-85 was about the best available. I also wanted a small decent body and didn't like any of the current Pentax line up (feel and...

Pentax AF cameras

[quote:1739fd44da="Daniel Bridge"] Selecting exposure modes was a delight: If you moved the shutter speed dial away from 'A' and onto a specific speed, you were in Shutter Priority. If you moved the Aperture ring away from 'A' and onto a specific aperture, you were in Aperture Priority. If ...

RE: Night Shots

Hi Guys, Thanks for all your responses and advice. I had a play at the weekend setting the camera to bulb and doing 20,25, 30 and 40 Sec exposures. I should get the film back at the end of this week so I will report back then. I feel like this is a dumb question but...... How do you work ...
